Unclaimed Luna’s Desire -
Chapter 40 Date
Paul's POV:
I always knew there was something different about Ellie and Aelros' relationship. The Pack was buzzing with rumors that Ellie's being kept by Aelros.
I asked Aelros about it, and he just smiled and said they were just friends, that he didn't have any special feelings for Ellie, who he called a waste.
I didn't buy it. Ever since Ellie moved into Aelros' secret place, he always made time to rush home, no matter how busy he was.
Aelros used to crash in a cabin in the forest, morning and night, to train and sharpen his skills.
The place where Ellie lived was miles away from the training ground. For someone like Aelros, who was all about efficiency, making that trip every morning and evening was just weird. I knew it had to be because of Ellie.
Just like now, when I had Ellie, I wanted to stay home all day and be with her.
I couldn't understand how Aelros could leave Ellie alone at home.
I wanted to be with Ellie every single moment.
Aelros only won Ellie's heart because of dumb luck. To me, Aelros was just a simple-minded, muscle-bound guy.
Compared to Aelros, who was just a fool for sex, I, with my gentlemanly charm, would definitely win over the girls, including Ellie.
Everything was going according to my plan.
I could see Ellie didn't like having me around. She always had Aelros on her mind, but I wasn't worried.
I had plenty of time to be with Ellie, to make her forget about other guys.
I would slowly break down Ellie's defenses. Trust me, one day I would replace Aelros in her heart.
I had all the time in the world.
During dinner, I cut the steak and pushed it in front of Ellie. "How about we go on a date after dinner?"
"A date? But..." Ellie paused, looking worried, her knife and fork frozen in mid-air.
I knew what she was worried about. Ellie didn't want to get too close to me, maybe because Aelros had threatened her or something. But I wasn't worried, because innocent Ellie was easy to deceive.
I suggested, "It's okay. We don't have to call it a date. How about we just go for a walk and have some fun outside?"
I knew my words had hit the mark because her eyes widened instantly, looking at me like she was saying, "Take me with you, Paul."
Sure enough, after a moment of hesitation, Ellie agreed.
I decided to take Ellie to see a movie and visit an amusement park, just under a different name. It was still a date I was looking forward to.
I had been planning and dreaming of a romantic day alone with Ellie for a long time.
When Aelros first brought Ellie to the training ground, they trained together like no one else was around, which made me envious for a long time.
In Ellie's eyes, it seemed like only Aelros mattered, completely ignoring me, no matter how hard I tried to get her attention.
I wanted that too, for Ellie to only see me, to go out and have fun with me.
When we entered the theater, I noticed Ellie kept sneaking glances at the popcorn on the shelf, clearly interested.
But with so many young kids around, I thought Ellie was too embarrassed to ask me.
In people's minds, popcorn was for kids. No adult would eat such a nutritionless snack.
"Need anything to eat?" I asked, trying to be considerate.
"No, Paul. I'm just happy and grateful you took me out. I don't need anything," Ellie quickly waved her hand, looking worried about bothering me. My heart ached for her.
How could I not understand that look in her eyes? Ellie clearly wanted the popcorn.
I knew about her family situation.
If her family was happy, they wouldn't have handed their daughter over to a stranger for profit.
I figured Ellie's childhood must have been even more miserable than now. Maybe she had never been to a theater or tasted popcorn.
"Ellie, wait here for me. I'll be back in a moment." I settled her on a soft waiting sofa and went to buy the popcorn for her.
It was just a snack that only a kid would order, but I didn't feel ashamed to buy it.
As long as Ellie was happy, I was willing to do it, even if it meant being surrounded by kids.
"Sir, why are you buying popcorn too?" A kid next to me stood on tiptoe, looking at the server handing me a freshly made bucket of popcorn, his tone full of mockery. "Only kids like sweets. Aren't you ashamed?" I was a gentleman, but only for Ellie. That was my favoritism towards her. It didn't mean I treated others kindly.
"I'm not ashamed. I really like sweets." I pointed to the ice cream machine behind the server and said, "Excuse me, can you make one of each flavor of ice cream for me?"
"You're even buying ice cream!" The boy exclaimed in disbelief.
"I'm paying for it. Why can't I eat it? I have a lot of money, and I can order every flavor." I provocatively raised the shopping bag in my hand. "You don't."
The kid was stunned, looking at his lonely popcorn in his hand, then at my rich variety of sweets.
The kids around us looked enviously at the snacks in my hand, unable to look away, watching me leave.
I returned to where Ellie was waiting, with the snacks.
Ellie looked surprised as she took the snacks I brought, but still thanked me happily, "Paul, I didn't expect you to buy snacks."
Ellie held a bucket of popcorn almost as big as her head, sounding joyful.
I didn't want Ellie to feel burdened, so I casually said, "Just passed by, thought you'd like these sweets, so I bought them. Kids love these. I think you will too." "Thank you, Paul. I really like them!" Ellie said, even leaning on my arm.
My breath instantly became heavier, and all my nerves focused on the arm that Ellie touched.
This was the first time Ellie had taken the initiative to get close to me, a big step in her trust in me.
I was so happy.
Honestly, I felt nothing about bloody horror movies. When others challenged me, I always saw blood and flesh.
The fake blood and effects in the scenes made me want to sleep, my mind always on Ellie.
I needed a dark, enclosed space, which would help Ellie relax her guard against me and subconsciously rely on me. That was why I brought Ellie here.
Sure enough, as a scary scene appeared, Ellie screamed and threw herself into my arms.
I could feel Ellie's soft chest pressing tightly against mine, the sensation making me want to strip Ellie naked on the spot. "It's okay, Ellie. I'm here," I comforted her.
I waited for Ellie to gradually fall into my gentle trap, not in a hurry.
I could clearly feel Ellie trusting me more and becoming more intimate with me.
