Unclaimed Luna’s Desire -
Chapter 56 The Last Night
Paul's POV:
"Alright, fine." Aelros just raised an eyebrow at me, not doing much else.
It was weird that Aelros didn't refuse; it was so unlike him.
He just strolled into my secret cabin, acting like a guest, no hostility, and surprisingly chill.
This made me suspicious.
I wasn't scared of Aelros, not here in my territory, surrounded by my crew.
If Aelros wanted to start something and take Ellie, I could hold him off, though I really didn't want to go there.
"You look beat. What's up?" I asked.
"It's nothing. Just needed to check something," Aelros said, putting the goblet down and heading out. "Now, I got my answer." "What?" My head was spinning with questions.
I knew Aelros was wary of me, but I didn't expect him to sit down and chat.
From what I knew of Aelros, he should be pissed, break our alliance, and then come at me, threatening to take Ellie.
That's what I thought would happen, based on how Aelros usually is.
But nothing happened as he left.
Something felt off, strange.
Since Aelros left, I could sense something shifting in the shadows, more enemies showing their faces.
Aelros kept digging for info about Ellie, and besides him, there were other powerful forces against me, making it tough to handle them, the gang of pythons.
Those creatures that looked like thick ropes were actually sniffing around for Ellie, making it harder to keep her hidden.
I was starting to feel the pressure, realizing that soon, I might have to let Ellie go.
Things I dreaded were creeping closer.
God, I wanted to keep Ellie. I wasn't done with her yet, and I didn't want to let go of this perfect toy.
I felt like I had to cherish every moment with Ellie.
So today, I canceled all my plans and just stayed home with Ellie.
But Ellie seemed different again. She was back to being cautious, polite, and distant.
Even though she sat next to me, Ellie never looked at me.
I wondered if I had lost the charm that drew Ellie in, even though I hadn't done anything wrong.
I had experience dealing with gangs and wooing girls, but with Ellie, I was clueless for the first time.
Why?
I put my arm around Ellie's shoulder and pulled her close, but she closed her eyes and turned her head away.
"Ellie," I felt a pang of frustration, gently calling her, "my treasure."
"Paul, it's late. Let's go to sleep," Ellie said.
Ellie definitely wasn't tired; it wasn't her usual routine.
I knew she was avoiding me.
I lifted her chin, making Ellie face me. "Ellie, open your eyes and look at me."
I didn't want any misunderstandings in the short time we had together.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"It's nothing."
I tightened my arms around Ellie, making her body press against mine. "Why are you unhappy, Ellie?"
Hearing my question, Ellie opened her eyes and looked at me seriously, a tear slipping from the corner of her eye. "Mr. Haisk, do you really like me?"
I didn't get why Ellie asked that because in all my past pursuits, no one had ever asked me that question.
They only cared about money and status, things I could easily provide. I wasn't exactly a stingy benefactor. "Without a doubt," I replied.
"No, Mr. Haisk," Ellie shook her head.
I hated it when she called me that, but I let it slide.
"I mean love, not just liking someone as an object." she added.
Ellie must've been feeling insecure or something, so I had to keep reassuring her.
"I love you," I patted her back, whispering sweet words and promises in her ear. "I promise, Ellie, I really like you."
But it didn't help. Ellie kept her eyes down, her mouth turned downwards, showing that my words weren't getting through.
I couldn't wait any longer.
Outside, countless eyes were on my secret cabin. Aelros and his python crew were constantly looking for my weaknesses, trying to break through my defenses.
I kissed Ellie on the forehead. "Ellie, do you have any feelings for me, if this is our last night together?"
I was desperate for an answer.
I had put in so much effort, hoping to leave a mark on Ellie's heart, even just a little bit.
Ellie showed resistance and sadness, pushing me away. "No, Mr. Haisk. I think we should keep our distance."
"I'm very sad," she added.
I didn't know what Ellie had been through while I wasn't around.
Everything I did was perfect, and I could feel that Ellie had even shown signs of affection.
But why did she suddenly revert back, as if our time together didn't exist?
"Mr. Haisk, I've caused you trouble during this time," Ellie tried to convince me again, "My foster parents forced me to be a sex slave. I'm grateful for your help and shelter. You won't lack women who follow you, but I just want a simple life. Please let me go."
Ellie even asked stubbornly, "When can I return to Aelros?"
It wasn't until I heard Ellie cry out in pain that I realized I had been holding her arm too tightly, hurting her.
I felt powerless.
I thought, 'Why can't I break into Ellie's heart? Why is she still thinking about Aelros, that idiot?'
In the past, when I used these methods to pursue girls, they would easily fall for me.
Looking at the despondent Ellie, I realized I knew too little about her, not even knowing what she truly liked.
"I don't want to let you go, Ellie. Don't you have any feelings for me? None at all? Why are you treating me like this, Ellie? It's not fair! Don't I deserve you a hundred times more than Aelros?" I irrationally questioned her, raising my voice out of anger.
Ellie didn't say anything. She sobbed, covering her mouth with her hand, tears streaming down her face.
She looked scared.
I snapped back to reality, realizing I had lost my cool, without a trace of gentlemanly demeanor.
But I was too jealous.
I had to admit, I was jealous of that bastard Aelros, who had captured Ellie's heart!
I was really angry.
"Ellie, you can't treat me like this!" I couldn't keep my composure anymore, gripping her neck fiercely with my teeth. "You love me, don't you? I can feel it!"
"I can feel it!" I repeated, as if trying to convince myself.
I tore at her clothes, leaving a trail of kisses on her body.
The idea of conquering Ellie kept growing in my mind, and I greedily wanted to possess her more.
