Uncle's Love: My Sweet Little Wife
Chapter 167 Refuse to Cancel the Engagement

The bodyguard took Kara to the hospital and left her alone outside the ward.

Kara clenched her fist and took a deep breath.

From the moment the bodyguard appeared, she knew what Zoey was looking for.

She didn't want to go, but she couldn't escape.

Perhaps it was because Kara had grown up in the fear of Linda, when she saw Zoey, she felt uncomfortable, though Zoey seemed to be nice.

But now since she was here, she could only face it.

Kara knocked on the door, a doctor opened it.

She walked into the ward. Zoey waved at her benignly.

"Kara, come here."

"Yes, Grandma."

Kara walked to Zoey respectfully. Zoey held her in the hand, which gave her a shudder.

Zoey was emotionless when she heard Kara's voice. Her palm was warm, but her eyes were cold.

"Kara, James is busy with work all day and doesn't have time for you. Let me accompany you for the checkup."

Kara controlled her fear and nodded obediently.

Seeing Kara being so obedient, Zoey nodded in satisfaction.

Outside the checkup room.

"Grandma, I can do it myself. You are not in a good condition, you need more rest." Kara saw that Zoey's face was pale, it was obvious that she was not in good health. "Well, you are sensible."

Zoey nodded and patted her shoulder to urge her to enter. She would be fine with the care of the doctor.

Kara couldn't do anything but enter the checkup room.

There were a lot of items on the checkup list. Although private doctors were serving her, it still took more than an hour.

Kara went out of the room, Zoey was looking at her eagerly as if she was expecting something.

The doctor walked to Zoey and told her about Kara's condition.

Looking at the results, Zoey frowned.

"What does this mean?"

"Madam Hemming, Miss Kara is too young. She is still growing. Besides, she's weak and is taking medicine. All the results show that's she won't be ready to be pregnant in the next three years." Kara and Zoey fell silent.

Kara knew it, so she was not surprised at all.

Zoey was prepared too, but she still felt disappointed when she heard the doctor's words.

"Isn't there anything we can do?" Zoey asked, unwilling to give up.

The doctor nodded and patiently explained, "Miss Kara's body needs to be nursed, but it will take a long time. Also, it can be a matter of fate to be pregnant."

Zoey did not say anything.

Zoey didn't believe in fate at all. All she wanted was a great-grandson.

She must witness the birth of the next generation of the Hemmings before she died.

Zoey still had that gloomy look on her face when they went back to the ward. Kara did not dare to speak. She did nothing but stood there waiting for Zoey's orders. "Does James know about that?"

Kara nodded. She had nothing to hide.

Zoey glared at Kara resentfully.

James messed up his engagement party and changed his bride. She turned a blind eye to all these masses.

However, she couldn't stand the fact that James had found himself an invalid!

"Are you lying to me on purpose, you and James?"

"Grandma, what are you talking about? James respects you very much. How could he lie to you?" Kara looked baffled.

"You have stolen James from Kathleen, yet you can't even bear children. If this isn't a lie, what's it?" Zoey asked coldly.

When choosing a fiancée for James, the first thing she did was to check their medical reports. Kathleen's physical data was the best, and she was the most suitable to give birth. Kathleen's jade was just an excuse.

She had no brains and no identity, why would Zoey choose her otherwise?

'Now Kathleen was out. James married an invalid who could not bear children. He must have something against me!' Zoey thought to herself.

Kara looked at Zoey in silence, feeling indignant for James.

It turned out that in Zoey's eyes, James' happiness was not important at all. What mattered was the great-grandson for the Hemmings!

She suddenly felt a little fortunate. It was fortunate that she was the one engaged to James. Not Kathleen.

"Since you can't give birth, cancel the engagement to James as soon as possible. I can compensate you!"

Zoey was enraged by the look in Zoey's eyes and glared at her gloomily.

Zoey was a strong woman when she was young. Her sharp gaze was very menacing.

However, Kara was determined and unwavering.

She didn't care much about engagement, but she felt sorry for James. He respected Zoey, yet she treated him in such a ridiculous way.

"I won't cancel the engagement!" Kara said calmly.

Kara would be the first one to stop Zoey if she attempted to replace James a random fiancée again.

"Kara!"

Zoey still wanted to speak, but she heard someone call Kara and paused.

Kara looked up when she heard the familiar voice, and saw Will running over.

"Madam Hemming, why didn't you let me know about your return visit? How are you?"

Will ran over hurriedly, glanced at Zoey, and then frowned at the doctor beside him. Will's gaze made the doctor feel uneasy, so he hid the medical report behind his back.

Zoey had put on a benevolent smile since the moment Will showed up.

"It's fine." Zoey shook her head and asked Kara to help her up.

Kara understood what she meant. 'What an actress!' she thought while reaching out to support Zoey.

"Will, you must be busy at work. I'm just here for a follow-up check. Kara is with me, it's fine."

"Madam Hemming, don't say that. James is a good friend of mine, and you are the person that he respects most. I shall respect you as my grandma. I have to take care of you when you come to the hospital." There was an undertone in Will's words.

James had expected that Zoey would force Kara to take the checkup while he was on a business trip.

It seemed that Zoey had known Kara's health condition.

"What a good child. I would have less to worry about if James is half as good as you."

Will was even more indignant about arranged marriages. He had almost killed himself when his family attempted to impose marriage on him. He insisted that he didn't need anyone else to handle his love life for him.

When Zoey called Will a good boy, she didn't mean that he had gotten along well with his family. She meant, he listened to James, coming to Kara's rescue whenever she was in trouble.

Zoey always had that smile on her face while speaking. Everybody would see her as a benevolent old lady.

However, Will and Kara, who was standing next to her, both knew that she was hard to deal with.

Kara walked down to the hospital gate with Will's accompany. They were waiting for the driver.

Will gave Kara a wink, trying to remind her that he had something to tell her.

However, Kara was staring in another direction. He looked over and saw a mother with her daughter. He happened to know them, too.
