Under the Heiress' Facade -
Chapter 544
Aurora looked back and happened to notice that Roman did not seem well. But this was his residence.
"Roman, what's up? You don't look well," she asked deliberately.
Roman came to his senses and gulped. He pretended to act confused. "Mom, what are these things? Why do they resemble the prenatal medication that you used to take?"
"You know about that?" Aurora stared at him for a moment, her sharp eyes filled with resentment.
Roman held back the terror in his heart and obediently held onto her arm, saying, "I pay attention to anything related to you, Mom. I want to quickly help you catch the culprit who swapped out your medicine."
Aurora felt slightly better after hearing his explanation. She had noticed how obedient and thoughtful Roman was when she went to the orphanage back then. That was why she adopted and raised him.
She had watched him grow up all these years and understood what kind of person he was. He would not do anything that would harm her.
The next day, Jamie's report was ready. The pills were the poisonous drug that Camille had given her before, not Hera's prenatal medication.
Aurora sighed in relief. If they were the prenatal medication given by Hera, Roman would be the biggest suspect since the pills were discovered in his backyard. She wouldn't have been able to accept that he would do such a thing.
Aurora had no idea what Hera was trying to imply. She immediately took the test report and headed toward Youngworth Miracle Clinic to meet with Hera.
At that moment, Hera was treating patients in the consulting room. After finishing up with her current patient, it was Catherine's turn to treat patients. Before returning to the western wing, Hera calmly called James, who was having a meeting with the managers of various departments.
He was taken aback when he noticed it was Hera calling. He had saved her phone number a long time ago, but it was her first time taking the initiative to call him.
He immediately put the meeting on hold and cautiously answered the call, "Hello, Hera?"
"Did Adorbs Corp sign the contract?" Hera questioned.
Her question took James by surprise as he wondered how she knew about it. He remembered that he never told her about it.
It had been going quite well at first when he came to Jedburgh to discuss the contract with Adorbs Corps. But he had no idea why Adorbs suddenly wasn't willing to work together anymore.
Because of it, he even went on a
business trip for a few days to Jedburgh. After asking his
connection's, he finally learned that he might have offended someone powerful. The other party planned to acquire Adorbs Corp, resulting in a pause in cooperation with Everett Group.
As the contract did not go through, Everett Group would have a public relations crisis if they could not deliver the pre-ordered items during June sales. That had James worrying for the past two days. He had been racking his brain for a solution.
But last night, the CEO of Adorbs Corp suddenly contacted him, saying that the collaboration would continue. He even offered an additional 2% profit margin.
Hence, James went to Jedburgh this morning to sign the contract. He then immediately returned in the afternoon for a meeting with the department managers. That was when Hera phoned to ask about the matter with Adorbs Corp.
Did Hera help him out? Otherwise, why would she happen to call and discuss this? James felt that must have been what happened and suddenly felt rather touched.
"We've already signed the contract, and the other party even offered an additional 2% profit margin. I plan to allocate the extra 2% profit toward the project fund in searching for the Eclipse Stone."
Hera assumed that she heard wrong. "Are you really looking for the Eclipse Stone? You even set up a project fund?"
"Yes. Don't worry, we'll help you replace the Eclipse Stone," James promised.
Hera said nothing. What mattered was that they were happy.
Aurora had been waiting for Hera in the western wing's living room for some time. She immediately stood up when she finally saw Hera return after making the phone call and handed her the report.
"The test report is out. Those pills aren't the medicine you gave me."
