Under the Heiress' Facade -
Chapter 564
Hera watched Everly run outside. Although Hera seemed calm and collected on the surface, she was actually terribly disappointed.
In the afternoon, she had already seen the two formulas for Emily's medicine in the drawers. Besides, the western wing also had a surveillance camera pointing toward the northern wing. The camera captured the scene of Isla handing the formula to Everly.
Hera interrogated Everly in front of everyone so that she could give her a chance. If Everly had admitted to her mistake in front of everyone and promised to be careful in the future without making the same mistake again, the matter would have been over. But Everly chose to lie.
That made Hera somewhat disappointed and distressed. After all, she had known Everly for more than ten years.
To her, Everly might be rather cunning sometimes, but at least she was a reliable person. Now, it seemed like Hera had been wrong about her. "Everly..." Wayne wanted to hold her back but was unable to do so. Worried, he said to Hera, "Hera, I'll go and check on her." With that, he ran after Everly.
Isla was furious upon seeing that. After all, she was the one who was being accused, but Everly made it sound as if Isla had bullied her. "Hera, I really passed her the formula. You have to believe me," she explained anxiously.
"I know," Hera answered.
Hearing that made Isla burst into happy tears. "Thank you for believing in me. I'll definitely work hard and repay you for what you've done."
Isla had assumed that Hera would not believe her. She even prepared herself for the worst, thinking she would be fired. She never expected this turn of events.
"As I said before hiring all of you-work hard, and I'll give you whatever you deserve, whether it's treating you well or teaching you well. If you can't do it, please leave," Hera remarked.
Isla nodded obediently. "Yes, I understand. I'll definitely work hard."
"It was our honor that you took us in. We'll definitely do our best and follow you wherever you go. Even if you try to chase me away, I won't leave I be relying on you for life," Sarah added, making everyone laugh.
Hera nodded in relief and got up. "It's getting late. Everyone should go back and get some rest."
"Alright. You should rest early as well."
Not long after Isla and Sarah had left, Bernard returned to see Hera busy herself in the northern wing. Upon reaching there, he saw her tidying up the medicinal ingredients in the cupboard.
Bernard stepped forward and hugged Hera from behind. "Are you tired? Why don't you rest first and finish tidying up tomorrow?"
Hera turned around and wrapped
her arms around his waist while burying her face against his chest "I'm not tired. Once I'm done, Sarah can come over tomorrow and prepare medicine for the patients right away."
Bernard found Hera to be acting slightly strange today. In the past, he would have gotten a stern warning for interrupting her work. But now, she seemed rather clingy.
"What's up?" he asked while holding her in his arms.
Hera briefly gave him a run down of what happened today. Upon hearing that Everly eventually ran away, Bernard happily said, "That sounds good, sweetie. You've finally gotten rid of that bitch."
Hera was speechless.
The next day, it wasn't a surprise to Hera that Everly did not come to work.
Catherine explained that Everly did not return home the whole night. Although Wayne had chased after her last night, he wasn't able to replace her.
Moreover, Everly was not answering
his calls. Finally, Wayne received a text from Everly at midnight, which said that she wanted to be on her own and did not want him to come looking for her. After that, she switched off her phone.
Wayne was slightly angry. He wondered how Everly could behave this way. She did not admit that it was her fault and went into hiding. He couldn't even replace her.
Thus, he did not go looking for her anymore. Wayne would wait for Everly to return and admit to her mistake once she was done throwing a tantrum.
