Under the Heiress' Facade -
Chapter 575
Speak of the devil!
Hera couldn't help but be amazed at how Samantha managed to pop up in her moment of distress.
She blinked at Samantha for help, but Samantha was already walking over to them with a smile.
She said, "Hera, you're here! Why didn't you tell me beforehand? Did something get into your eye? Why are you blinking non-stop? Do you need me to help you blow it out?"
Hera was speechless. A fool of a friend was worse than a foe.
"Didn't you say Samantha was sick?" said Bernard. The cold look he gave Hera told her that she was doomed.
"Sick? I'm not sick." Samantha was puzzled.
Hera's lie was exposed right then and there. It was so embarrassing!
Sensing Hera's silence, Samantha finally realized that something was off between Hera and Bernard.
She noticed that Bernard's expression looked especially cold and dark today.
"Mr. Killian, are you and Hera heading back to the private room?" Samantha asked gingerly.
Bernard didn't answer. He simply grabbed Hera by the wrist and pulled her toward the elevator.
Samantha got her answer. She watched as Bernard and Hera left, then turned to see Tyler bending over and leaning against the wall behind her.
It then occurred to Samantha why Hera was so cooperative when Bernard dragged her away. Hera knew something awful would happen to her if she didn't leave with him.
At the entrance of Nightless Haven half an hour ago, Wayne found a spot and parked the car. He went to a public restroom for a while, and when he returned to the car, he saw a Lamborghini parked near the entrance of the bar.
The doors opened, and Everly and Marcus got out of the car. She wore a bright pink designer dress and a pair of high heels that sparkled like crystal. Her long, lustrous hair fell against her back, and the makeup she wore was striking.
Overall, she looked quite elegant and sophisticated, which was rather different than how she usually presented herself since she normally dressed simply and plainly.
Everly smiled as she hooked an arm around Marcus'. The two of them entered Nightless Haven together.
Ever since Everly left the clinic crying, Wayne couldn't replace her no matter how hard he tried. He thought she'd go back home after a few days, but it was as if she had vanished into thin air.
His calls didn't go through, and she didn't answer or reply to any messages at all.
After some time, Wayne started to worry about her. He wondered if something had happened to her. It never crossed his mind that she'd actually go and meet Marcus.
"Everly!" Wayne called out to her. He went after her, but an employee of the bar drove Marcus' car and parked it right in front of the entrance, blocking him from entering.
Upon hearing his voice, Everly turned around and saw Wayne standing near the entrance. She knitted her brows together when she saw him. "What's wrong?" Marcus asked after she turned around.
"It's nothing," she said, grabbing his arm and walking deeper into the bar before he could turn around to see why she stopped. "I was just wondering where the staff would park your car. Let's head inside. We shouldn't keep them waiting."
Marcus simply thought Everly was eager to enter the bar since she wasn't from around here, so he let her lead the way.
Wayne walked around so that he could enter the bar. But when he finally stepped into the place, Everly and Marcus were already nowhere to be seen, so he quickened his pace.
However, the blinding disco lights, booming music, and the crowd made it extremely hard to look for Everly.
"What would you like for a drink?" asked one of the waiters, handing a menu to Wayne.
Wayne had never come to a bar
before. Scanning through the menu,
he saw a long list of drinks, the names of which he couldn't understand. What he noticed was that even the cheapest of the drinks cost at least a hundred dollars.
He was shocked when he saw the prices. Was this daylight robbery?
Wayne replied, "I'm not drinking. Where did the man and the woman who just entered this place go? The woman's my sister. I'm here for her."
Noticing the surprise in Wayne's eyes when glancing at the menujust now, the waiter snorted derisively and said, "Just leave if you can't pay.
The rule here is that you must buy a drink if you want to stay."
