Under the Heiress' Facade -
Chapter 701
Chapter 701
The thought of Hera having a ticking time bomb by her side made Bernard regret letting her go ahead first. He didn't receive any response on his phone, and time seemed to pass very slowly.
Bernard was dying to rush over there and take Hera away immediately. But he had no way of getting to her since the mercenaries were still on guard outside, and more of them had arrived.
After a long time, Hera's voice finally came through the phone. "Bernard, I've found the bomb!"
She lay on the ground, staring at the bomb installed beneath the server. Its screen displayed the countdown.
"Two minutes and 30 seconds remaining. Two minutes and 29 seconds..."
Bernard's heart clenched. "Ignore that. Quickly go to the window."
Hera looked at the window behind her. Her heartbeat involuntarily sped up. "What about you?"
"You should get out first. I'll climb out from this window on my side," Bernard consoled her. But Hera wasn't a fool. Mercenaries were guarding the window on his side. Bernard could only kill them if he wanted to escape.
However, killing the mercenaries would trigger the bombs on their bodies to explode. That was far more dangerous.
"I'll take some photos for you to have a look." Hera ignored his protests.
She moved the surveillance server aside with difficulty before laying the bomb flat on the ground. After exposing the wiring, she snapped a few photos before sending them to Bernard.
He tapped on the photos and realized it was a new type of complex heavy-duty bomb. Although there were nine wires of different colors, the bomb would still explode no matter which wire was cut.
Moreover, the explosive power of this bomb was different from that of the suicide bombers out there. This bomb could destroy the entire building.
The thought of the consequences made his blood run cold and sent a chill through his entire body.
"Have you seen the photos? Which wire should I cut?" Hera found a pair of scissors. Her heart was pounding so hard that it was almost about to leap out of her throat.
Bernard glanced at the seconds ticking down on his watch and realized there were only 30
seconds left. Everything was too late.
He switched from voice call to video call. He gazed at Hera, who appeared on the screen with her mask on, and smiled. "Cut the white one."
White was her favorite color.
Hera looked at Bernard's uncharacteristic smile on the screen. She suddenly came to realize that this bomb could not be deactivated at all.
Her heartbeat raced uncontrollably. Her mind had turned blank. At that moment, she finally realized that they were so close to death's door.
"Don't be afraid. I'll be with you to the end," Bernard continued.
Hera couldn't help but tear up. "Sounds good to me."
She put down her phone and picked up the scissors. After looking at the bomb wiring, she reached for the black wire.
Hera liked white, but Bernard liked black.
At the same time, guests in each banquet hall on every floor frantically ran for the elevators and stairwells once they heard about the bomb. As there were too many people, these areas were overcrowded.
"Please don't push each other. Let's evacuate in an orderly manner to avoid a stampede. Give priority to the elderly and children. Don't push!"
The waiters tried to maintain order but could not manage such a large crowd. The panic had left the atmosphere in complete chaos.
The police had already arrived outside the Imperial Hotel to take control of the entire building. The VIPs kept rushing out of the main entrance in a hurry, having completely disregarded their dignity.
Linda, who left ahead of time, was now standing in the café across the street. As she watched the remote in her hand count down to the final ten seconds, the sinister smile on her face
grew wider.
Once it exploded, everything would come to an end. All the evidence would be wiped out with this explosion.
The seconds ticked away, and an explosion sounded with a bang.
