Unknown Darkness (2)
Chapter 14.1

Wolf

While Wolf and Asema exited the shuttle and Wolf was a little amused from Asema reaction to the city and shuttle. As seeing another world from Sky High come to life. Asema had the face of wonder but a bit shock to realize this was a another world for her to understand.

They had arrived at the temporary residence of Madam Mentor. They stood before a brown and beige brownstone like building that stood tall of four floors. They were in a little higher class section of the city. Where it was also placed in a decent area for weather especially from the wind that blew through the tunnel of streets from the ocean.

He gazed back at Asema who was till in awe at the building that stood before them. He slowly laced his fingers through hers and as expected she jolted for a slight moment but then allowed him to fully lace their fingers together. The familiar warmth was instant and a confirmation of electric feeling between them stayed. She definitely was this mate.

Wolf lightly pulled her behind him as they ascended up the front steps that led to the two massive doors for a entrance. They stopped right at the door and he turned to her.

“This is Madam temporary residence, and you are given a choice if you choose to live here or the dorm on the campus section of the island.” Wolf reminded her, as he saw light in her red eyes. Something he noticed when she opened her eyes in the hospital yesterday.

Asema nodded her head, “I understand, but maybe living with her may give some answers to burning questions I have.”

Wolf smiled acknowledging her understood and reached and turned the cool metal knob opening it up to a gorgeous foyer. Immediately greeted by a staircase that is few feet away from the entrance.

To the left is living room with a built-in fire place and the right is a kitchen that had a hallway attached to it leading to the back the house where a beautiful solarium with a ocean view, that gave a view of sparkling water.

“It is amazing” Asema voice almost audible.

He gave her a adoring smile that she did not notice as she slowly was made her way to the living room.

“It should be as I want to make sure you are comfortable as possible,” Madam voice rang from the top of the stairs.

Wolf whipped his head up as did Asema, both staring at Madam who now descending the stairs with her black dress flowing behind her.

She takes Asema’s hand, who still tries to keep her distance from Madam. As Wolf remembered earlier from earlier morning, when Asema retracted her hand on the mattress. Wolf could tell Madam was hurt again by this action even though she hid the emotion well. A little to well.

Madam gestured them both to the living room where there are two burgundy couches that looked like they were styled for 1920’s, facing each other with a coffee table in the middle. To their right is the fire place that is not active with dancing fire but accompanied by two burgundy armchairs staring at it.

Wolf looks to Asema who has already made her way to the windows that held the seating area. She made herself comfortable and turned her attention staring out the window watching life outside move by.

Madam already settled on the couch facing the window where Asema sat. As for Wolf himself, he joined Asema by the window. She only acknowledged him with a smile.

“I am truly sorry for what happened to you and want to do anything to help…” she trailed off.

Asema brought her attention to Madam, giving a blank face. “Don’t worry I am listening” and turned back to the window while catching his eyes. The light was still there but something else joined in her eyes.

“I asked for help…in a way for you to talk with someone. I am offering you a counsellor; you can do as many sessions as you want” Madam finished and Wolf watched her study Asema. Who was listening but kept her attention out the window and soon wrapped her arms around her legs that she tucked into her chest resting her chin on her knees.

“I will think about it” was all Asema replied without looking back.

Madam stayed there hoping there would be more but Wolf knew she said what she needed to say. He tried to understand what was being told to Madam, only just moments ago she wanted to ask questions. But, right now he knew he should just help anyway she needs.

Madam eventually stood, and left the house.

Asema stayed put while Wolf leaned his back against the wall and stared at the fireplace.

“You can tell me anything or say anything” Wolf whispered as he kept staring at the fireplace imagining pretend flames dancing around each other.

“I know I am safe but it’s little things that make me flinch or freeze up or act out. I don’t know why but its that survival instinct” her voice echoes the room.

Wolf turned his attention to her and she is already looking at him but soon stares at the space by his legs.

“I hate to ask but what happened, or what haunts you? I know he ddid things but I don’t want to do something that remind you of him.”

Asema stares at the space, she didn’t flinch at the question rather almost happy to speak to him about it. She stared back at the street below.

“His touch…” she slightly shivers but it was barely noticeable. “Was like ice but sizzled hot. Sometimes felt like I am drowning in shear ice or my body was burning on coal.” She paused and Wolf didn’t touch her hand as he was worried it may trigger Kieran. “When I couldn’t take it I would fight till my vision went black and wake up next day with a sore body or shear pain radiating through my body if woke up next to him.”

Wolf felt sick but couldn’t imagine what she felt like or how hard it was to even say these words. But he kept quiet allowing her to talk at her own free will.

“I would fear everyday wondering what he would do next. Any time I felt his presence or heard his voice I would fear or freeze.”

Wolf was hearing these words and listened to every one. Still didn’t touch her hands or knees.

“Eventually I would get braver and fight him and sometimes win…but it costed me…till Junior came it was some saving grace.” Asema slightly smiled at the good thought of Junior, “Junior helped me fight and resist Kieran, but,” Asema turned her gaze to Wolf and he saw her.

“Now when something happens, I know he is not around but it is instinct to fight and protect myself even though I know I am now safe” she made her words clear to Wolf so he would understand her position on which he did.

“Thank you for telling me…can I hug you?” He asked.

Asema uncoiled herself and crawled towards him nestling into him. Wolf felt her warm body slightly shiver as she may be somewhat reliving her nightmare.

“It’s okay, I am here” he whispered and kissed her head allowing her hair to tickle his lips. “We will fight this together.”
