Wolf and I returned to our usual place in the library, history didn’t help myself from me questioning things. Even though I received answers only more questions came about. Wolf and I sank cozy on our couch while the cire crackles filling our silence.
“Wolf, Immortals can choose eternal life…what is it like for Lycans.”
He smiled and tilted his head to, “it honestly the same for any creature, but the only ones who honestly choose eternal life are Immortals. Though same with Immortals, Lycans like I can make a decision on their nineth birthday, a ritual is held for their decision making. Though no one has really chosen eternal life as same see no point in it.”
I scrunched my eyebrows together, “how old are you?”
“I am almost twenty...but I am nineteen.”
“Okay” I drifted off into another world but then I thought again. “Wolf.
He brought his head up and blinked, “what’s up.”
“Tell me the history of Lycanthropes” I mused.
This got his attention, he leaned forward on his knees placing his elbows on them. His lanky body looked very attractive in the light of fire and you could see his body was naturally carved to perfection.
“Well,” his voice brought my attention back as I realize I was admiring his body. “We did not live in peace with Immortals for a few hundred years. It was not till a leader of lycanthropes, an alpha took the step and with a blessing of the gods that agreement was signed for peace for the two species…soon some harmony came but it was wasn’t as bad.”
I stared at him, “are you or have you always been friendly to Immortals as they are with you….aside from the Warriors of Kadea?” I hesitated my voice slightly shaky.
“Yes, I was raised to respect everyone as your equal unless it was a royal or alpha.”
He looked away with from smile, so I left it alone then and continued homework. Though soon time went by fast as Wolf piped up.
Asema are you aware that its now close to midnight?” he asked and began to clean up his area.
“Oh uh…no…sorry” I replied laying down resting my head on my arm.
He must have said something else but my eyes slid shut and I may have dozed off.
I was somehow half awaken but not unaware, my eyes felt to heavy to open but I felt I was floating. I heard clicking of stone and felt cool air brush against my face. Fresh cool air flaring up my nostrils. I felt a few bumps but barely noticeable. Then someone mumbled.
“Damn it” In a unique accent, “Please don’t be mad, even though you don’t understand me and are asleep.”
I was confused but I sleep took over again as heat and pine scent filled my lungs.
I woke up looking at vibrant purple curtains that let in a little bit of orange tint through a form of a window. I assumed it was the sunrise which meant it was early morning or later morning. I felt around the bed and soon realized it was different as the covers felt different much more of roughness to it. I turned to see a coffee table and a couch with a figure sleeping on it across from me.
But I froze, stunned, I seemed to be sleeping in Wolf’s room as his figure was sprawled across the couch, either that or I was dreaming.
I slowly got up and looked around, at the foot of the bed was desk and some device on it. The couch where Wolf laid was a red couch similar to the one in my dorm. The coffee table brown dark wood and beside the desk a door, to my behind left another door.
One is a door and another a bathroom, with my decision I tiptoes to my right and grabbed the knob turning it. In there was bathroom, I stepped in quietly closing the door. I went over to the sink and splashed water over my face. Nope this is not a dream.
I took a cloth and wiped over my face allowing myself to feel refreshed. I opened the door and was welcomed by a now awake Wolf who froze and saw me. I stood there frozen as well.
“Asema…I can explain.”
I nodded for him to continue.
“The dorm building was locked and I didn’t want to leave you in the library as you didn’t wake up…so I took you here…sorry I should have tried harder to wake you up” his eyes spoke truth and I smiled gently.
“I allowed you on the bed and I stayed on the couch for respect.”
I nodded, “thank you and okay.”
I went and sat down by him on the couch already feeling an electric pull. I suddenly wanted to get closer to him.
“Did you least sleep well” I was concerned.
“Oh yeah, I am fine, but more worried about you, they would’ve locked the library and you could have been stuck in it till it opened…I had no idea if you would wake up during then.”
I nodded in agreement, “that’s totally understandable, it’s okay, long as you didn’t take advantage, I am fine.”
His shoulders loosened and he sighed a quick relief.
I placed a hand on his shoulders reassuring him but that caused heat to radiate between my touch and his.
“This is the weirdest situation I have ever been in” he confessed the shifted his eyes to me. I caught his gaze and a strong pull suddenly grabbed me to get closer to him. We both looked at each other and I wasn’t sure he felt the same pull I felt.
“I guess this is odd” he whispered.
I cocked my head and studied him, unsure on what he meant.
“I guess so?... timing has a way of working differently I suppose” unsure on what he was getting at. I was unsure where this topic was going and was going to ask.
I was about to ask something when his lips met mine. My brain froze, I didn’t know what to think, my heart began to race. He was kissing me and I kissed him back taking in his pine tree scent and warmth from his lips. Electricity felt it was jolting between us as it was meant too. A second later like wind pulsing out like a shock wave. The curtains whipped upwards as if they caught wind from something.
Wolf and I unlocked our lips and stared at the now opened curtains that allowed orange and red streaks through the window onto the bed.
We gazed at each other in confusion.
“What was that?” I questioned.
“I haven’t got the tiniest clue,” he answered, “If I kiss you again would it happen?”
I shrugged with a laugh, “Honestly I don’t know.”
Wolf stood and went over to inspect the window examining at it every inch. “Nothing…it was just us who somehow created a shockwave.
I stood, “maybe I should go…so Emily doesn’t freak.”
Wolf was suddenly beside me, “yeah…that may be a good idea” and lead me to the other door. I opened it and looked back at him and before I could stop myself I reach up cupped his face gently, pressed my lips to his. Soon lowered myself down.
“Just checking” I whispered and turned around and walked away from leaving a frozen stunned Wolf in the doorway as smile crept across my face.
I arrived at my dorm but Emily wasn’t there, so I decided to do the usual strolling around and inspect the grounds of the school. I started in area I knew and soon took detours that I wasn’t familiar with. I wouldn’t get lost as I soon found myself with familiar surroundings again.
I turned a corner and heard a strange string noise, it sounded like a bow and arrow. I followed the noise and soon found I was right. I was welcomed by an archery field with lined targets, a guy was at one of them. He was aiming and shooting dead center. I crept a little forward still covered by the equipment to inspect but still kept a distance. He wore a plain black shirt and some dark jeans was a blonde, I went a little closer but stopped as I realize it was that Kieran guy who had made me feel bit weird. I knew then needed to leave so I quickly turned but was stopped by his voice.
“I can hear you” he raised his voice.
I froze and turned back to him, he turned around and was now staring at me slightly shifted in his stance.
“I heard you come around the corner any ways.”
I was still frozen where I stood, next thing he was in front and towered over me not allowing me to breathe.
“Leaving so soon?” he smiled but not a good smile.
I was at loss for words but I stared at him, he came in closer and I began to slightly quiver.
“Asema are you cringing at me?” he tsk.
“Because you don’t know bloody personal space” I roared somehow replaceing my voice.
He took a couple steps back in surrender, “my apologizes.”
“Damn right” I countered.
He snickered, “What brings you here?” slight intrigued as if he already knew the answer.
I shrugged, “I heard the bow and arrow was curious and now I am here and ready to go” I turned but he grabbed my wrist forcing me to stare at him again.
“You busy this evening?”
Tread carefully I thought.
“Why?”
He smirked, “I am asking you out on a date.”
I shook my head and tore my hand away from his now firm grasp, “I am not going on a date with you” I turned around again and began walking away from him. Till he was front of me catching me off guard with a small shriek.
“That was rude” he bit bitterly.
“No, it wasn’t, I barely know you and you obviously have no idea what personal space is” I bit back.
He cocked his head but didn’t move, “Kieran Crimson, birthday right is Equitem Draco, I am gold elite and I come from a powerful family…does that help?”
I smiled, which made him relax, “Nope…bye” I stepped around him and walked away.
Soon out of range I stopped and leaned on the stone building next to me. Taking a huge breather but froze as now my vision went cloudy and soon my surrounding was fading, was I going into shock?
My answer soon came, I was surrounded by noise of slashing metal and people screaming, suddenly someone had my hand and was dragging me into a shadowy area.
“Come, we need safe sheltered demons” the voice sounded familiar but the noise of screaming didn’t stop and I was lost. Though before I could figure out what was happening my original surroundings appeared and I was shaking against the wall.
What was that?
