Until I Met You
Weird call (7)

Grace

I walked into the college. I was nervous from the previous night incident. It took so much pushing for me to come back today for the classes. Fortunately, I did not meet any of them. Did they come or not today, I did not know but I didn't see them anywhere. I wanted to avoid any type of problem, so I was hyper aware of any presence around me. If they did come today then I had successfully managed to avoid them. If they didn't come, I thanked the god.

I was in the cafeteria eating sandwiches and drinking coffee when Angela came and sat down next to me.

"Hi, what's up?" She said as she moved forward and picked one of my sandwiches. I didn't say anything, ignoring her. I kept eating.

"Hello, I'm talking to you. Will you look at me? I'm here." She waved her hands in front of my face.

"What?" I asked, irritated. She pulled her hands back down.

"What happened to you, now?" She rolled her eyes. I put my sandwich down and gave her all my attention.

"What happened?" My anger and frustration from the night earlier took over me.

"You knew that those idiots and I weren't on 'friendly' terms, yet you made me go with them. Do you have any idea..." I stopped myself from spilling out anything else. Angela's eyes started shining and a teasing smile lit her face. "What happened last night, Grace? Did something happen?" I couldn't believe her. I slammed my hand on the table.

"Many things happened but not the ones you're thinking right now. Why don't you understand, they are trouble?" She leaned back in her chair.

"I like trouble." She winked. I huffed out a breath. She didn't seem to get it.

"Okay, fine! What happened last night, Grace? Seriously, this time. You look fine to me. Did they hurt you?" She said the last line in whisper, being sincere. Her reaction calmed me a bit. It felt good to have someone care about your well-being. "Nothing. Forget about it." I replied, taking a bite of my sandwich.

"I didn't see them today. Do you know where they are?"

"No, they are not here. They did not come. Usually they take the next day off after a concert. Why do you want to know, though?" I'm asking where they are so that I can avoid them. Bloody vampires.

"No reason. I didn't see them anywhere today, so I asked." She shook her head.

"What happened yesterday? Tell me?" I narrowed my eyes at her.

"Fine. Forget it." She said after looking at my face and hearing nothing but my silence.

"What are you going to do after college?" I didn't have any clients today, so I shrugged my one shoulder.

"I don't know. Studying, I guess."

"You are a nerd. Come on. We will go to a bar, get drunk and have fun. Who studies in college anyways? Except for some nerds?" She said eyeing me up and down.

"You can call me whatever you want but I'm not in a mood to go out today. I've got an essay to complete." I said making up an excuse. I had enough of going out.

"Alright. Suit yourself." She replied and I finished my sandwich. We bid our goodbyes and went on separate ways.

I know I'm boring. No matter how hard I try I can't seem to get interested. Maybe, I am supposed to not have fun. Who knows. I left the college and got home. Mrs. Johnson was standing outside, watering her garden. When she saw me coming she smiled at me. I smiled back and waved at her.

"How are you, Mrs. Johnson?" She came outside and smiled at me.

"I'm good. How are you?"

"Good. So you like plants and gardens, huh?" She looked back and around her garden with an appreciative and proud look. She nodded. "Yeah, I've been into gardening and stuff since I was a teenager. It took a long time to get this place to come out like this." I grinned.

"Yeah. You have definitely put too much effort into this."

"When girls my age went out to have fun with boys then I was making a garden like this. Back at my parents home." Here we go with their time. "Oh really? You must like gardening a lot then." I said.

"Yeah. I like it a lot." I nodded moving backwards to leave.

"Okay, I have to bathe. I'm sweating." She hesitated and opened her mouth.

"Where were you last night?" She asked. I didn't get it.

"What?" I asked, confused.

"You came back in the middle of the night, so I was just wondering where you were coming from that late."

"Oh..." I should have known.

"Our seniors had a late night party to welcome juniors. So, I was attending it. They said it was a good start to know people and make friends." She nodded her head as if in understanding.

"When I was your age we didn't have any late night party. We would just make friends, eventually. It's not safe to be out there to be late at night."

"Yeah... I know. I really should go though, I have homework to do."

"Okay." I turned and walked as fast as I could. It was another reminder that I had a lifestyle that people might not agree with. She made me realize people are always noticing my moves. I made a mental note to be careful around my neighbor's

area.

I made my way inside the house. I took a shower and wrapped a robe around myself. My phone started ringing. It was one of the lines that my customer used. I didn't want to meet any customers today, so I let it go to voicemail. It started ringing again. I ignored it. It happened again and I ignored it but when it rang again I picked it up. I was irritated but I controlled my voice and spoke in a soft but professional voice.

"Hello." I said in a neutral tone.

"Hello, am I talking to Sally?" I worked with another name to help and my identity hidden.

"Yeah. That's me. How can I help you?" I asked, taking out the towel that covered my head and putting it on a chair. I checked myself in the mirror. I looked good.

"I just wanted to know are you free today? I wish to have a meeting with you." He said. His voice was soft and low. He almost whispered into the phone. I guess he was shy.

"I'm sorry but I'm not taking any client today. Maybe you can call back later." I said and moved the phone to my right ear. He didn't speak for a few seconds, so I thought he disconnected the call. I was about to cut the call when I heard another whisper.

"Please..." I was stunned for a second thinking I misheard him.

"What?" He sounded like he was about to cry.

"I said please. Can you give me an hour from your busy schedule? I'll pay you the double amount of your normal price. I really need it. Please, I'm begging you." His voice made me think twice before I said anything. I didn't want to see any client, but he certainly needed someone.

"I'll pay you in advance." I closed my eyes and opened them.

"Fine. I'm sending you a time and address. We will meet there and... I'll take the advance."

"Okay, okay. Thank you so much. I really appreciate it. I'll be on time and you will get your payment in advance too. Thank you."

"It's alright. Bye." I said.

"Bye." He replied. I disconnected the call and stared at the phone's screen. He was weird. I had some weird calls earlier. It wasn't new but these calls still are able to catch me off guard.

I prepared myself and went to my working place. I entered the room but found no one. Maybe he was running late. I walked to the bed and sat down. Maybe, I should change before our session begins and give him a surprise. He had already paid me online in advance, just as he promised. He won't cancel it, even if he did I won't lose anything. So I decided to go with the idea and change into a sexy lingerie. I heard the room's door open, he was here. I smiled to myself in the mirror. I opened the door and walked outside. He looked like a young guy from behind.

"Hi." I said seductively leaning against the bathroom door. The guy turned his head and I let out a gasp of shock.
