Chapter 9

Enzo was somewhat worried about Samantha’s condition since it was the first time the latter had reacted so quickly.

Enzo looked at them suspiciously, thinking. Is it because of Conrad and Lincoln: When did they become so important to Samantha? All because they’re her biological brothers?”

As he pondered over it. Samantha nodded at the portrait before picking up the flowers and putting them in place.

Lincoln and Conrad also placed their offerings and left with Samantha.

Samantha exited the cemetery and got in the car. She closed her eyes as if she was thinking about something. Perhaps she was still immersed in the moment.

*Sammie, where to next?” Conrad asked. Even if Samantha didn’t want to go back with him, he still had to send her to a safe place.

“Home, sighed Samantha with her eyes closed.

“Home? Whose home?” He then asked softly, “Where do you live then?” He had to at least replace out where Samantha lived so that he could visit her in the future.

Samantha said nothing, but Enzo, who was watching this, couldn’t stand it anymore.

“Are you serious? The Vanderbilt residence, obviously!” he exclaimed.

Enzo thought, “How could the eldest son of the Vanderbilt family be so stupid!

As soon as Enzo spoke, Lincoln and Conrad looked at Samantha simultaneously as if they were waiting for an answer.

Feeling their gazes, Samantha nodded slightly and hummed in response.

Conrad felt like he was on a roller coaster today with his drastically fluctuating mood.

A joy that had never been felt before swept all over him, and he couldn’t help but exclaim, “Good! Let’s go back home!”

Conrad suppressed the joy in his heart and drove slower. Looking at Samantha, he reckoned she was probably sleepy.

Lincoln cried tears of joy. He leaned back and turned away with his eyes closed, letting the tears fall into his hair and trying

not to make a sound.

Seeing that, Enzo snorted and thought, ‘Look who’s crying now!

They were silent all the way, but the atmosphere in the car became warmer.

Since they drove slower, it took longer to arrive. Conrad chose a smaller path that was narrower this time.

Nonetheless, the size of Conrad’s car was just right despite the trip being slightly bumpy. Fortunately, it didn’t wake Samantha up. Seeing her sleeping quietly. Conrad reckoned that everything was worth it.

The car then arrived at the Vanderbilt residence. As soon as it stopped, Samantha awoke leisurely and stretched gently before getting off.

She strode through the entrance leisurely, with Lincoln quickly following behind.

Chapter 9

He was worried that Hansel would make Samantha angry again.

Unexpectedly, they found Hansel on his knees holding Kathleens leg and crying bitterly when they entered.

Lincoln was speechless.

“Hey, look! Ms. Vanderbilt is back!” exclaimed one, noticing Sarntha’s arrival.

Someone added, “Yeah! The Vanderbilt sons must’ve persuaded her to come back, right? It’s only the first day they’ve met, and they’re so close, unlike Adrienne. I initially thought Adrienne got along with them strangely, but now it seems that…

“A fake is always a fake, and they can’t be real,” interrupted another. “As the saying online goes, ‘a poor mimic will forever be

“That’s true,” someone concurred.

Some socialites dressed in cocktail attire looked pointedly at Adrienne as if she were a clown on stage.

The rest of the adults just smiled without saying anything

“Enough! I said I was the victim! I didn’t know that person was fake…” Adrienne was out of breath from crying on the stage as if she were indeed the victim. Just then, someone spoke. “It’s not that you haven’t thought about it, or how would you be here? Do you think you’ll become Professor Brooks’ protégée with your minor achievements?”

Everyone nodded in agreement.

Hearing that, Adrienne gritted her teeth and looked at Samantha who was about to drink wine, thinking. ‘Why didn’t I knock her dead earlier?”

She gazed sinisterly at Samantha as if she wanted to skin the latter alive!

Samantha felt it but didn’t pay much attention. She even ignored it. As soon as her lips touched the rim of the glass, a hand! snatched it away.

It was Christopher.

Christopher assumed Samantha wouldn’t return that night, so he was ready to leave. ‘She’s back?’ he mused.

This made him inexplicably happy. Every time Christopher saw Samantha, his heartbeat became erratic, and he almost wondered if he was sick.

After asking some friends, Christopher learned it was an indication that he loved someone. “Do I like Samantha, perhaps?’ he

wondered.

“Stop drinking, it’s time to sleep. Having some milk will help,” Christopher said.

He brought over a cup of milk and handed it to Samantha.

Samantha looked at the milk in Christopher’s hand with amusement in her eyes. Her glossy red lips curled up gently.

The pleasant light shone on Christopher’s face as if he were an angel among men.

He was gentle, but he didn’t lose his aura.

Samantha didn’t think he was as he seemed. He was shrewd.

Chapter 9

Samantha looked at Christopher, who did the same to her.

From his perspective, Christopher could see Samantha’s long and curly eyelashes, naturally thick eyebrows, high nose. bridge, and her captivating eyes, slightly raised.

This made Samantha look more charming, but her gaze was languorous, and her expression distant.

Her skin appeared to be sculpted like marble, but she exuded the air of an unapproachable beauty.

Her lips were not as dry as before. Now, they seemed to be coated with a layer of reddish lip balm. Her exquisite face was so defined that it appeared to be carefully crafted by the heavens.

Samantha’s long hair was slightly damp from the rain and stuck to her chin. The rest of her hair cascaded down her back neatly.

Her simple outfit looked like it was couture, which gave her an impressive air.

Christopher glanced around and fixed his gaze on Samantha’s bag on her shoulder. It looked like one of the only three Dawncat bags left in the world.

However, it looked like it came from some garbage dump at that moment.

“Have you stared enough?” Samantha asked.

She had already withdrawn her gaze, but Christopher remained dumbfounded. He kept staring at Samantha, which made her uncomfortable.

“Well, Ms. Vanderbilt, you’re beautiful. I’m sorry for my rudeness Christopher replied.

Samantha looked doubtfully at Christopher’s smiling face. She didn’t dress up today, so she wondered why Christopher looked at her like she was an utter beauty.

Samantha waved her hand indifferently and said, “It’s okay. Thank you for the milk.”

She took the milk from Christopher and sniffed it. She then drank it after determining that it was safe.

Christopher thought, I reckon Samantha has been set up a lot. She’s so guarded.

The temperature was just right. Samantha drank the milk in a few gulps and yawned slightly when she saw that things weren’t over yet on the stage.

Seeing that, Christopher’s heart almost melted as he wondered how she could be so cute.

“Sammie, you’re back? Are you sleepy? Let Conrad escort you to sleep in my bedroom first, okay? I have something to deal with,” said Kathleen gently in a louder voice as she also noticed Samantha

Then, she shouted at Hansel, who was holding onto her. “Hansel I’ll count to three. If you don’t let go, we’ll be done for good!”
