Unveiling the Genius Behind the Divorcee -
Chapter 235
Chapter 235 Do Not Hit My Face
During the day, Suzanne had given some advice, which Aylin was somewhat resistant to at the time. But now, she had come to understand that emotions.
and career can indeed be separated.
Isn't making money the main goal?
"Gavyn, objectively speaking, you truly have a great business mind. I cannot deny that. I believe that you would also make an excellent partner."
Aylin tightened her coat and looked up with a polite yet distant smile, "My company's embroidery project happens to need a partner, and you mentioned before that you wanted to join. Now, I'm more than happy to welcome you."
Aylin reached out with her slender and fair hand.
"In the business world, we're bound to meet each other. Let's shake hands and make peace, and from now on, we'll be partners."
Gavyn was taken aback for a moment.
He still hasn't moved on from the previous conversation.
Has she already moved on to the next topic?
Watching Aylin's smile, he suddenly felt a sense of helplessness. Now, she seemed like a cool and free breeze that he could no longer grasp.
After a moment of silence, he held Aylin's hand.
"It seems Mr. Delacruz has agreed, so let me wish us a pleasant collaboration in advance. It's getting late, so I'll see you later." Aylin quickly withdrew her hand and turned to enter the gate. Gavyn watched her graceful figure as she walked away, his expression gloomy.
He wanted to go back to the past with her.
But it seems like she doesn't want to think about it anymore.
The man took out a cigarette from his pocket and lit it. As the flame flickered, his phone rang. He answered the call, and it was from Waylon.
"Where did you go? You disappeared as soon as you came out!"
"I'm at the entrance of the Koch's home."
Waylon paused for a moment, utterly astonished. "You came to drink in broad daylight, got drunk, and then went to someone else's house? Gavyn, you've never done anything like this before. And you said you didn't like Aylin?"
Gavyn's voice was a bit low, "Just asking some questions."
Waylon said, "Haha."
Gavyn said, "Hang up."
He was rendered speechless. He thought that his surprise move would make Gavyn have a sudden realization and understand his feelings. However, Gavyn still refused to admit defeat! Waylon feels powerless.
No use persuading, I'll leave it be, let's see how long he can stay in denial!
Frowning, Gavyn hung up the phone, silently stubbed out his cigarette, and turned to leave.
Realizing his mistake belatedly, Waylon felt terrible after replaceing out that Gavyn had gone to Aylin's house.
In a moment of drunken impulsiveness, Gavyn probably let all his secrets slip out, which means that Aylin now knows about his betrayal.
Oh no, I'm going to die!
After smoking two cigarettes and spending ten minutes mentally preparing
himself, Waylon dialed Aylin's number.
"Ms. Koch, I've come to apologize-"
Sure enough, as soon as Aylin spoke, she scolded, "I haven't even come looking for you yet, but you've walked right into the line of fire. Are you asking for a beating by not keeping your word?" Waylon's memory was pulled back to that day when he was beaten up badly by Aylin.
I definitely don't want to experience that again.
Waylon tactfully coughed, "I just couldn't bear to see Gavyn so disheartened. I know I was wrong. If you're really angry, you can beat me up, but please don't hit my face."
Aylin hummed on the other end of the phone.
It was very bland, with no discernible emotions.
Hearing that Aylin didn't seem to have any intention of hitting him, Waylon couldn't help but show off again. "I mean, what exactly did Gavyn tell you? You have no idea how much I've been holding back. Just when he unexpectedly invited me for a drink during the day, I couldn't help but spill the beans."
Upon hearing him daring to gossip, Aylin's anger intensified, "How dare you ask? Are you looking for death?
Stay out of my sight lately, or you'll have hell to pay!
Also, if the funds don't come through, there's no need for you to be involved in this project!"
After speaking, the phone was promptly and decisively hung up.
"Hello... hello?"
Waylon had just been hung up on by Gavyn, and now Aylin had hung up on him too. Good heavens! His life was becoming more bitter than a bitter melon day by day!
Aylin hung up the phone and entered the living room.
John took her coat as she arrived late, and brought her some coffee and snacks.
"Ms. Koch, if you're hungry, you can have some desserts. I've made your favorite cinnamon coffee."
"Okay."
Aylin's response was too indifferent, causing John to take a second glance at her.
Upon taking a glance, they were stunned.
Aylin was not the type to wear her emotions on her sleeve. Even when she was angry, she didn't make it too obvious. But now, it seemed like her feelings were more than just simple anger. Aylin saw John lost in thought and asked, "What's wrong?"
John was a bit worried, so he carefully asked, "Ms. Koch, coming back so late, is there something troubling you at the company?"
Aylin shook her head gently, "No, everything is fine with the company. Don't worry."
Just then, the doorbell rang.
John muttered to himself, wondering who would come at this hour. He didn't ask any further questions, but the lingering doubt remained in his mind, unable to be dismissed.
Although he asked this, he felt that Aylin's worries were not just about business matters. He always thought that Aylin's bad mood didn't seem like anger Instead, it seemed somewhat... sad.
But...
What could make Ms. Koch sad?
Unable to figure it out, John stopped thinking about it and went to open the door. His expression suddenly turned cold.
In the evening darkness, Sariah stood on the steps, holding Abby's hand.
Seeing John, she smiled warmly and said, "John, I brought Abby to meet Aylin."
John's brow furrowed, unable to hide the look of disgust on his face.
After learning about Sariah's plan, John's impression of her could be described as hitting rock bottom. He had been honest and law-abiding all his life, and wholeheartedly believed that such a vicious woman should be thrown in jail!
"Ms. Koch is busy with work and cannot entertain guests at the moment.
Please come back another time."
Sariah's smile stiffened slightly. Outsider? Her last name is also Koch. So, was Aylin implying that she was somehow more noble than her?
But she had to laugh and say, "Haha. I brought Abby with me, and since we're already here, she'd be very disappointed if we didn't go in to see her. Don't you think so, Abby?"
Abby, upon understanding, obediently nodded her head.
John looked at the eight or nine-year-old child, who was not even half his height, and felt deeply pained and distressed to see him being led astray by this wicked woman's instigation. Just as he was about to open his mouth to retort, Aylin's cold voice came from behind, her tone indifferent.
"John, invite them in, please."
Sariah immediately beamed with joy, "Ah, look, Aylin is willing to meet me, and she's in great physical shape." After speaking, Abby was pulled inside. Seeing Aylin taking charge, John reluctantly made way for them.
Sariah cursed inwardly, This damned old man, one day I'll take care of him too!
Bullying with the backing of powerful people!
Aylin hadn't changed out of her work clothes yet, but she had let her hair down, which added a touch of casual laziness to her appearance. The five-digit
price tag on her dazzling earrings was hard to miss.
The sting pricked Sariah's eyes.
She vowed to take back everything that was lost
