52. Feline Activity
Jack
This must have been the best suggestion that Maxwell ever came up with, that I had agreed to. It had been all worth it last night, for Doreen to not be able to sleep, as the excitement or nervousness had taken over her calmness. Because, as she was training with those cats today, all I could see on her face was one huge smile!
She loved to jump over obstacles, avoid swinging bags, use her claws to lodge herself in wooden walls to climb her way over the top and what not more. And that’s not all, because over the stretch of three days she had been climbing in her rank as fighter and in single combat she had defeated most of her opponents already!
I watched her from the side line as she equipped more of the lenient skills of the cats, much easier as she did with the punches and kicks I had been trying to teach her. She was graceful towards her opponent and managed to knock them out in endurance, or became even faster than they were as she had fun fighting them.
From our supposed ‘date’ in my forest, I knew that agility suited her better than strength, but when she was able to shift into her bear I thought that strength was the way to go with her. But I guess I had been wrong. And seeing her smile like this, as she felt much more at ease at this way of fighting, her progress had been much more significant than when she was being trained by either me or Vic.
It was ironic that I had called her my little vixen every now and then, as I thought of it now. The slim fox-like body of hers, suits her perfectly and together with the swift motions she is using, and also at the speed of which she can move herself forward in the water, she almost looks like a true female fox. Even her golden brown fur matches into that equation, and I chuckled from my thoughts.
“Ahh!” A sudden burst of pain shot through the air as one of Maxwell’s leopards had just broken a femur, I suppose, as he was reaching for his thigh. I got up from my seat at the base of a tree and walked over to the spectacle.
Doreen was apologizing furiously as she had been the one to have done it, as it seems. The young whelp of assumedly eighteen years of age, was instantly being carried away and Doreen stayed behind, ashamed of what she had done. Her smile had been gone the moment she had realised to have broken such a strong bone, but I wasn’t going to let this one setback get her drowned in sadness.
“Don’t worry love, he will heal.” I said to her. “Yeah, I know, but I don’t like it either way. Didn’t you see what I did? I broke through that bone too easily!” She said nearly crying.
“Well, that means that you should take up on stronger opponents, love.” I told her. “No, I don’t want to! What if I break one of their bones as well?”
“Then why don’t you try to beat me then?” Maxwell suddenly asked her. “I doubt that you can break my bones, I’m much stronger than that young whelp.” He explained, with a grin on his face.
I smiled at the thought of the possibility for Doreen winning a battle against Maxwell as he was the fastest opponent I have ever seen. When I had duelled against him in the past, we had proven to be equals as he was faster and could avoid my punches, but I was stronger and could hit him harder than he did me. But our endurance was pretty much the same, so we had to make it a draw, as otherwise we’d still be fighting today.
But Doreen is different, she has the strength of that of a bear, maybe not fully yet but she should be a little stronger than Maxwell, and she had now been training to use the agility of that of a cat, so in that department she could equal Maxwell’s skill as well.
It was now all up to Doreen’s determination and will to survive, should she want to win this challenge against him.
“Alright, but don’t come crying to me, when I break you as well!” She shouted and I was surprised by that comment. Wasn’t she just near to crying at seeing that boy being hurt? Who was this woman and what has she done to my mate!
Doreen
I had already forgotten about the broken leg of that whelp, even though I hadn’t been fond of the fact that I had hurt someone while I never meant it to happen. But seeing how determined Maxwell was for getting himself beaten by me, was fun to see. I was going to prove to him that I was no mere little cub that only wants to eat honey!
The amount of poise that Maxwell used, while dodging my attacks was surprising me much. He had always been the rough mouthed person that had sex with his mate whenever he wanted to, even when other people were in the room with him. And he never thought about what he said and what his words could mean to others. But his fighting style was serene, well thought of and felt like it was a part of him. He has made this feline fighting style of jumping, scratching, growling and slithering his body in odd angles, completely his own. And he owned the battlefield with his grace.
If I was going to win from him, than I have to mix my own tiny slender movements in with that of my strong bear. Only swipe when I have the possibility of hitting him with at least an eighty percent hit rate, and then use about seventy percent of my power to not use up all of my energy.
I know that I analyse this battle too much, but I can’t just wing it. If I want to win against an Alpha bear, then I have to play it out in my own way. I’m no ordinary bear, I’m no ordinary human, never have been, never will. My intelligence of biology, science and mathematics is what is going to help me through this.
So, while I’m searching for openings in his defence, I tried aiming for his left side, as he favours to defend his right. But first I used an diversion to make him think that I went for the right side, and then at the last split second I would use my speed and swing myself to the left side to hit him there.
“You are going to be faster than that, to trick me into that corner. Little one.” Maxwell said and I cursed myself for it. “I know that my defence on the right is better than my left, but what you didn’t realise is that my speed while turning away, is faster than your swipe could hit me.”
Shit! Alright different tactic…
“Stop thinking, love. I can see you are tilting your head. He is reading you like an open book!” Jack linked me, and I could slap myself for it.
Come on Doreen, you have read thousands of books! Use your imagination! I scolded myself. But like Jack said, I was thinking too much, and Maxwell took advantage of it. He stepped forward and swiped his claws over my stomach, ripping up three separate thin lashes across my skin.
“Fuck!” I cursed as Maxwell chuckled.
“You are not giving up, are you?” He kept laughing and it angered me, not because he was saying these things, but because I had let him hurt me!
It was as if a switch had turned inside my head. Gone were the calculations and expectations, and I welcomed the primal sensations of me wanting to protect myself, and others, should that come to be!
Jack
Well, just like the moment where I had questioned myself who she was earlier, when she made that comment towards Maxwell, I was questioning myself about that same person now again! I don’t know where this amazing speed and fury came from, but they were now both shifted into their animal form!
Fur flew around, as they both lashed out to each other, scratching with their claws against both their hides. Doreen even managed to take hold of Maxwell’s long spotted tail with her teeth, and hit him in the gut while he couldn’t run away!
Then he had gotten behind her with his speed, as he had jumped over her body with his own tall one. But she had seen it happening as she could follow his movements with ease! And thus making it possible to block the next attack while raising up one of her front paws as he had come in to swipe at her head.
Her big body was shaking as the little fat that was around her beautiful ass, was wiggling when she quickly stepped aside. I smiled at the sight and couldn’t believe that such a beauty belonged to me. But it wasn’t a figure of my imagination, this beautiful golden brown creature was mine to caress and love!
I had almost forgotten that she was fighting someone when I saw her feet move in a strange pattern. I don’t know what it is that she was doing, but it was throwing Maxwell out of his rhythm. Her paws gracefully stepped over one another, whenever he wanted to hit her. She was following some sort of sequence, that changed every few steps so that he couldn’t read what her next step would be. She even managed to avoid several hits of his and ducked gracefully underneath his paws.
I don’t know whatever she was going to do either, and I was curious what I was going to do, should I be against her to fight at this moment. I’m assuming that I would be at the same loss that Maxwell is now too! My little vixen, I admire her smart mind even more now!
It wasn’t until I was starting to make sounds, that I realised that I was laughing and it threw Maxwell out of his focus even more. He growled towards me, to not distract him with my noise, but he shouldn’t have done that. Doreen had taken the opportunity of his distraction towards me, and with her right front paw she knocked him dead unconscious! Well not dead, just unconscious. Luckily.
She shifted back into human form, and to shield her from wandering eyes I took off my shirt and pulled it over her body.
“Did you see that?” She asked me with wide eyes and a smile, as her arms came out of the sleeves of my shirt. “Yes, I did, sweetheart. But what did you do exactly?” I asked her, as I smiled back to her.
“Oh, that's for me to know and for you to replace out.” She chuckled and then we both heard some loud grunts as Maxwell got up from the floor in full birthday suit.
“Fuck!” He cursed as he reached for his head. “You! This is all your fault! You were distracting me!” He said, while pointing to me, and now I couldn’t stop laughing at all! My cute little mate has just defeated the Leopard that I couldn’t win from. My day couldn’t get any better.
