Veiled Infant of Alpha Hunter -
Chapter 54 Decisions, Decisions
Valentine Winters P.O.V
Lucifer, Gabriel and I were sitting in a round table at the kitchen while Gabriel was carrying his child.
It was so weird to see him with a child, all of us were so young and already we had responsibilities.
Responsibilities of being a parent. Something I thought I would only have when I was in my mid-twenties at the least.
‘And yet you turned out to be naughty.’ I heard Lucifer’s voice in my head and turned to see him already facing me with a smirk plastered on his lips.
“Get out of my head.” I uttered, a blush appearing on my cheeks while Gabriel looked at the both of us weirdly.
“So, no baby parties for Lilith?” I questioned Gabriel.
Gabriel scoffed thinking about something.
“Don’t think she’d appreciate one.” He answers.
“Have you guys at least figured a name for her?” I asked as I looked at the baby. She was holding onto Gabriel’s pinky finger; her cheeks were so rosy.
“Not really, but I was thinking of Athena.” Gabriel responds as he looks over at her.
“That’s a pretty name, it’s prettier than Leia.” I said before I could stop it making Lucifer narrow his eyes at me.
“Says the one who named our son, Niklaus.” He remarked before checking his phone.
“So, how’s Lilith?” I enquired.
“Fine.” He commented bluntly.
“The hell she’s fine, you’re not even letting her hold the baby.” Gabriella swooped in, getting a glass before walking over to the refrigerator and pouring herself a glass of milk.
“She’s holding it whenever the baby is hungry.” Gabriel defended.
Gabriella scoffed at him. “Stop being a dick and be a family, will you?”
“Where is she anyways?” She then asks after taking a gulp.
“Who knows.” Gabriel shrugged before diverting his focus back onto the baby.
“Who knows? You should be knowing.” Gabriella slammed the glass on the table, I was surprised it didn’t crack.
It was their fight; I didn’t want to get involved.
“She’s probably just in her room being antisocial as always.” Gabriel huffed.
Lilith Ra P.O.V
I’m leaving the pack.
I don’t know if this is a rash decision to make but this was not my home.
A home is somewhere I feel safe and welcomed.
I don’t feel welcome here anymore.
My sister Evelyn, though she was young. I could see the love Adam has for her and I really hope he never fails to show her how much she’s worth.
I took Gabriel’s suitcase out because I didn’t have one of my own and packed the clothes that he bought for me when I came here. Taking two pieces of paper, I wrote one for my little sister and another for my mate.
A mate that doesn’t even want to be with me. He never confronted it but he never shows if he wants me in his life either.
It’s been a few weeks since I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl and I am more than sure he will take care of her better than anyone else could.
The thought of leaving them hurts but I could not go on like this where I am never appreciated.
Neither Evelyn nor Gabriel really needs me anymore.
I’ll try and replace another pack who might take me in. I’m not sure what rank my wolf falls in but at least I could start fresh in a new environment.
My wolf was battling with my thoughts as she didn’t want to leave her mate. Seeing other mates gets me jealous if I were, to be frank.
I placed the letters on the bed before zipping up my suitcase and took one last look at the room.
My wolf was trying to change my mind but it has already been made.
Gabriel Zades P.O.V
“Could you hold the baby for a second?” I asked Lucifer who was to my left and passed her to him.
Something didn’t feel right.
“What’s wrong?” Valentine questioned from my right.
My whole body starting feeling warm and I was perspiring as though I just ran a few miles.
The mark that Lilith gave me was suddenly burning as I groaned out in pain, placing my hand on it in an attempt to ease it.
I stood up from the chair, not caring that I knocked it off behind me, making it fall on the ground in a loud thud before walking away from the kitchen towards mines and Lilith’s room, leaving everyone in a confused state.
My heart was literally pounding in my chest as I stood right in front of the room door.
As I swung the door, I could hear the door creak as it opened and while I was hoping that my instincts were wrong, I was not.
Lilith definitely was not there as though her scent was around, it was fading.
I walked over to the washroom to see if maybe she was there but she wasn’t and when I opened the cupboard, all her clothes were gone.
My heart starting beating rapidly as I felt an emptiness sweep in.
My suitcase was also gone.
Maybe she switched into a different room from being angry at me?
Two letters on the bed caught my eye as I slowly walked towards it. One of it was for me as it had my name written on it while the other had Evelyn’s name on it.
I opened the one that was meant for me, slowly reading the words she mustered.
‘Dear Gabriel, I’m leaving. I see that there is never a room for me when it comes to family. Maybe that is my fate that is written for me. I was so happy when I met you. You gave me hope.... You were my hope. You were my new dream. For the last couple of months, we fell apart, and now with a baby, life should’ve felt complete, but it didn’t. I don’t know if the decisions I make are right or wrong, I never really had anyone to learn from. So, I say what I thought and felt at the moment was right, that I was too young to bear a child and I was worried that I’d have to raise her myself since you were always busy with pack duties. I see now that even with responsibilities, you never fail to take care of her, and for that I will say she’s a lucky girl to have you as a father. I’ve never really felt alone in the cellar when me and my sister was captured and alone, but being with so many people around me, I always did. But I’m happy though, I’m happy that at least for a short moment, I got to feel loved and have it embraced by you. I love you Gabriel and I love our little girl too; I hear your thoughts at times where you thought about names and almost always decide on Athena. So, take care of our little girl Athena, my love and do always keep an eye on my sister. I wish you all forever happiness. Goodbye.’
A tear leaked down my cheek as I read the letter. I felt as though someone was pulling at my heart, it ached so bad.
With my peripheral vision, I saw Lucifer come in through the door into the room as he looked around the room before dropping his focus on my frame on the bed.
“Where is she?” He asks.
