TANYA

I didn’t know what the f**k was going on. Joseph was lying on the floor. It made no sense, I knew that I had done everything right. That potion had been perfect, and my incantation was spot on. The silver light that had surrounded them proved that. He should have taken her powers. So how the f**k did she throw him like that? I needed to get the f**k out of here. I hadn’t even for a second considered the possibility of Joseph losing. I looked at the doorway but Ruby moved to block it. Maybe I could convince them that he’d forced me to help him. Even if they did it would probably still end in me being thrown back in to a cell before my sentence was carried out. I had no intention of letting that happen. I took up a fighting stance and faced the witch down.

AMBER

I still didn’t understand what Adam had found so amusing, but right now, I had bigger things to worry about. Joseph was starting to struggle back to his feet. The anger was twisting his face into a mask of pure rage. He lifted his hand to the back of his head and roared with anger at the sight of his own b***d on his fingers. I glanced over to where Ruby and Tanya stood staring at each other. Tension crackled like electricity between them. Adam stood near the open door just in case Tanya made it past Ruby. Star spoke to me “He’s going to attack. Use our powers to stop him. Hold him.” She said. I told her that I wasn’t sure how. “Just think about what you want to do, push that thought out towards him.” She explained. I did what she said, and I felt a surge of energy spread from my body out towards him. He looked at me, and the anger was mixed with a degree of fear as I made him sit down. He tried to fight it, but I was too strong. “How?” He asked.

ADAM

I decided to put Joseph out of his misery. “You put your potion in Amber’s coffee, right?” I asked. He just nodded, his face still full of anger. “Before I dropped my cup?” I continued. He nodded again, this time a little less confidently. I grinned at him “I dropped that cup on purpose. To distract you. You see, we had put our potion into Amber’s coffee, and while you were watching me, she switched her cup with yours. So, not only did you drink our potion to subdue your wolf and powers, but you also drank your own potion, too.” I started laughing again, I couldn’t help myself. It served that bastard right.

Joseph looked like he was going to explode in anger for a second before suddenly going deathly white and looking like he would throw up. I think he just realised what my little revelation meant. Tanya had clearly figured it out, too. They looked at each other. “Does that mean what I think it means?” He asked her. She gulped and nodded. “If you drank the potion that I made, then yes I’m afraid so. Your power has transferred to her, instead of hers to you.” She said quietly. He looked panic stricken. “YOU f*****g b***h!!” he began yelling at Amber. I growled a warning “You did this to yourself.” I told him.

Tanya looked like she was trying to figure out what the hell to do next. I heard a movement behind me and felt a sharp, burning pain in my back. I howled in pain and dropped to my knees as the pain hit me again. Amber called out my name and grabbed her chest. I saw my b***d on the floor and heard Rusty yelling to let him take control. I let him push forward. Whatever had just happened, he could heal me faster. The last thing I saw before shifting was the silver knife covered in my b***d clatter to the floor. s**t silver, depending on the severity of the wounds, even Rusty might not be able to heal me. Silver is pretty much a death sentence. I would bleed out before the wounds could close.

AMBER

I was still processing what Adam had said when I heard him howl. A sharp pain ripped through my chest. He dropped to the floor and I saw Kim stood behind him. She dropped the bloody knife and grinned at me. Adam shifted, and Kim disappeared from view behind his big, red wolf. Rusty turned slowly towards her and collapsed. She was laughing, watching him bleed. “Die you f*****g mutt. That’s for hitting me with a f*****g paperweight.” She spat at him. I was crying. Joseph was free to move again as my concentration was on Adam now. Tanya had used the distraction to send a blast of energy at Ruby knocking her clean out. I dropped to my knees and cradled Rusty’s head in my lap, my tears soaking in to his fur. His emerald eyes fixed on my face. I felt the three of them closing in on me, but I didn’t care. Adam was the only thing I gave a s**t about right now. “It’s OK.” Star said soothingly in my mind. “How is it OK? Adam is laying in my arms bleeding to death. How the f**k is anything OK?” I replied.

JOSEPH MICHAELS

I felt the force holding me drop away. Amber was weakened right now. Her mate dying would give us just the opening we needed. I would get my power back. All I had to do was get Tanya to make another batch of potion and do the ritual again. I gave Tanya and Kim a nod, and we began moving towards Amber. She didn’t even move to stop us as we drew closer.
