Waited For The Luna -
Chapter 33
The was the most painful I’ve ever been in my life. I woke up and all I could see were white and bright nothingness. I then saw a wolf with golden fur sitting across me. As I moved she moved, and that’s when I knew, she was my wolf Tala. I then walked towards her and touched her head.
“What’s happening Tala?”
“Your body is deteriorating. You’ll die at this rate. Your soul is hurt by the rejection.”
“Maybe it would be better if I died instead. I don’t think I can live this life again. I’ve lost it Tala. I could no longer think straight. I’ve put everyone’s life in danger.”
“And yet you chose to face all of this alone. You are a werewolf, Bellamy. Your mate has vowed to protect you with his life and you are to do the same. He feels betrayed and tortured.”
“I can’t go back now, can’t I.”
“You can and I will help you. You have to trust me. We’ll be okay.”
“I don’t know Tala.”
“There isn’t much time Bellamy you have to listen to me. Your body is too weak now for me to heal. If we waste a minute longer you’ll die. I’ll be sharing with you my strength. You have to promise to use it wisely and when the time comes, you’ll be able to return to me the strength I’ve given you.”
“Okay, Tala. I promise.”
After that Tala left into the bright lights. I then felt my body falling back to Earth.
I then heard the sound of beeping. I tried opening my eyes but I was too tired to do so. Instead, I went back to sleep. The memories of Luka and I replayed in my dreams. I could only wish I’ve spent more time with him.
I suddenly felt the strength to open my eyes after a while, I opened my eyes and saw white walls and bright hospital lights. My vision was clouded. I looked to my left and saw Noah staring at me, before going out to call the doctor. I couldn’t speak because I was hooked on an ET. Wires were all over me. Dad went in and checked my vitals.
My tears fell from my eyes and I was just so happy to be alive.
After a few days, I was able to breathe on my own and got my intubation tube off. I asked Noah what happened when I got the energy to speak.
“Your neighbors heard you screaming and called 911. When they got into your apartment they saw you lying in your own b***d. With deep scratches all over your chest. They then brought you to the hospital and contacted dad. We brought you to the pack to recuperate more. I thought you were gonna die Bellamy.” Noah hugged me and kissed my forehead. Dad went in and run my vitals on me. and gave me a big hug.
“Don’t ever do this again Bellamy!” He scolded me.
“Where’s Luka?” I asked.
“We went on a mission and found leads to the rogues. They are dangerous Bellamy. They look like they’re off a different creature. Luka halted the mission and went away to investigate and study even further. He’s been gone for 3 weeks. Eric is running the pack well. But you shouldn’t worry, since you’re mates. You’d know if anything happens.”
After a few days of recovery, I went back home. I haven’t heard of Tala since and I couldn’t bring myself to shift. I was living on the strength Tala gave. Based on a book I read my wolf must be asleep, similar to a hibernating bear. She’s preserving her energy until Luka’s wolf awakes her or until I am able to fully recuperate.
I’ve lost a lot of weight, my bones were sticking out and my eyes were sunken. The hospital in Phoenix put me on medical leave and I am yet to report back. Dad wouldn’t allow me to go back until it was safe so he made me stay in the pack. Losing my mind, I asked if I could help in the infirmary so he allowed me but I could only do light work.
My job at the infirmary was really boring. I only do a few rounds, do sutures and catheters.
As everyone was busy I was then assigned to take up Beta Eric Gilbert.
“Cross.” I heard a devilish sound ringing in my ears.
“It’s doctor Cross. Hello Beta Eric.” I turned giving him a smile. I then walked up to him with his charts.
“What’s with the formalities. Weren’t we friends?” He said as he sat on the bed in the emergency room.
“We were never friends.” I coldly replied.
“Says here you cut yourself” I checked the wound he got on his forehead.
“Yup.”
“Okay. I’ll need to clean and stitch your wound up.”
I then proceeded to suture his wound.
“Seems like you haven’t been marked.” Eric doesn’t sound the same. He was playful but at the same time mature and had a deeper voice.
“I got rejected. ” I told him. Instantly regretting my words.
“Why? Who would reject you? You’re perfect.” He said.
“Are you done sweet talking? If you distract me this might hurt a little.” I said trying to focus on what I was doing.
“Didn’t know I affect you like that?” Eric was real smooth with his words. If only he knew who my mate was.
“shhh, please. I’m trying to focus.” I finished and dressed his wound. “And you’re done. Don’t get it wet for a few weeks. You’ll have to come back here in a week to get the stitches out to avoid infection.”
“Looking forward to it. Anyway, are you busy tonight? Can we grab dinner or something?” Eric wasn’t wasting any time. Didn’t know if he’s playing with me or flirting.
“As a matter of fact, I am. You can leave now. I’m a little busy.”
“Bellamy I’m sorry okay. I didn’t really mean to hurt you… I mean I did hurt you. And I’d… really appreciate it if we let bygones be bygones.” He was startling a little but I actually wasn’t in the mood.
“Eric you should leave.” Trying to taking him away.
“How about a drink?” This guy just won’t give up.
“I said no.”
With that, I turned my back. After my shift at the infirmary, I then drove back to the house. Luka hasn’t come back from his trip. I wasn’t expecting a phone call since I was the one who kicked him out. But I still wanted a little update. Geez! Wasn’t he even in pain after rejecting me? Sulking alone in the living room, I was suddenly surprised by the sound of the doorbell. I stood up hoping to see someone of importance.
