Chapter 196 He Is a Jerk

He had just left, and Eason appeared by Cordelia's side.

There was no way Elijah could convince himself that Eason wasn'tintentional.

But he was far away from Cordelia.

He was so anxious now that he didn't want to do any work or anythingat all.

Just then, someone knocked on the office door from outside.

Without waiting for his permission, the person pushed the door openand entered.

It was Gideon and the exquisitely made-up Daisy, with smiles all overtheir faces.

"Look, I knew Elijah was a workaholic and is working overtime again.”Daisy smiled sweetly towards Gideon with a hint of shyness. "Menshould prioritize their careers! Sir Hansen, I think Elijah is doing well.”Gideon leaned on his cane and laughed. "Alright, you stay here andkeep Elijah company. I've other matters to attend to. Make sure to takecare of Elijah. He always neglects his health when he's working.”

After saying that, Gideon swiftly left.

Throughout the whole time, Elijah never looked up at the two of them, nor did he greet either of them.

Listening to their talks and fabricated stories, Elijah could only coldlylaugh in his mind.

After Gideon left, Daisy came to Elijah’s side and leaned closer. "Elijah, are you hungry? Would you like to have some food?"

Elijah didn't move at all and said calmly, "You better leave now. I don'tlike being disturbed when I'm working.”

Daisy pouted displeasedly, then sat down on the couch. "Fine, I'll justwait here for you."

Elijah didn't say anything more.

He had to deal with the accumulated three days’ work tonight anddidn't have time to chat with Daisy.

Daisy played with her phone on the side, occasionally taking selfies, then posted them on her Facebook.

Cordelia had dinner with Eason.

Afterward, the two walked on the wet stone path in the small town, casually chatting about work-related matters.

Eason only said goodbye when they reached the entrance of the inncourtyard.

Eason felt a bit reluctant to leave in his heart.

But now it was late, and he didn't want to disturb Cordelia any further.Seeing that Eason seemed to have something to say, Cordelia said,"Eason, come inside. We have a common area in the courtyard. Resthere for a while before leaving.”

Eason didn't hesitate to follow her inside.

There was a pavilion in the courtyard with tables, chairs, and coffee sets.Cordelia returned to her room and brought coffee beans to brew a cupof coffee for Eason.

"Your phone has received messages, several in a row." Eason signaledwith his eyes.

Cordelia quickly picked up her phone from the small table, and afterreading the contents, she furrowed her brows slightly.

She initially didn't want to pay attention to Elijah, but she had a well-meaning friend...

"Encountered any difficulties?” Eason asked calmly. He didn't want tosee her frown and couldn't help but ask.

"Eason, let me make a phone call first."

With that, Cordelia dialed a video call to Imogen directly.

"I've seen the photos. Thank you, Imogen.” Cordelia smiled with heremotions calm and unruffled.

"Cordelia, Elijah is a jerk! I really can't understand him. He's playing therole of a passionate lover while engaging in a fiery relationship with anew potential marriage partner.”

"Before, I thought he was much better than Ben, but now... he's just asbad as Ben!"
