Wedding Day Vampire -
Chapter 38
Joana wasn’t aware before that the hotel they stayed was located right in the Central Business District. It was one of Mirabelle’s surprises but Dana had already figured it out. Their first tour destination was just outside the hotel!
She had arranged a dinner for them in the Bistrot B restaurant in the hotel, but Dana cancelled it. They would throw up if they ate any human food, so there was no use letting such a fancy dinner go to waste, the only thing they could manage to do was drink, and they would do so after their tour, at the Mei Bar, which gave a breathtaking view of the Beijing CCTV tower.
“Located in the south eastern part of the Chaoyang District, the Central Business District is at the heart of downtown Beijing, with convenient access afforded by the Guomao and Yonganli metro stations. Whether you’re looking for markets and shopping malls, themed restaurants or some of Beijing’s unique modern architecture, you can replace it all in the Central Business District.”
As they toured, they noticed that the streets weren’t as crowded as they would have been if it were during the day, although it meant that not all the business places were open, it still was an advantage for them as Joana every once in a while, still felt the need to feed on one of them.
Mirabelle continued taking them round, and then to their final destination before they returned to the hotel, she took them to the Arcade by Hatchery, it was a popular bar located in the center of the CBD. They didn’t have anything to eat, only a few cocktails, as they spent most of the time there playing games. The coven went back and forth competing with each other, from ping-pong, football, super Nintendo, and other various classic arcade games. They all had a good time there, and every once in a while, Joana would steal a glance at Derick.
They returned to the hotel after a few hours of fun, and up to the Mei Bar. Mirabelle went home after taking them there. They sat down at the outdoor lounge where they could see the view and chugged on their drinks while looking at the sights the view had to offer. The DJ played a smooth jazz song, calming the mood and giving a smooth sensation while they drank.
“China is beautiful,” Joana said as she took another gulp, still mesmerized by the beauty and awe of the city. She couldn’t count how many drinks she had taken tonight, and yet it didn’t feel as if she had taken anything. That was the best thing about being a vampire, nothing could control you, not even alcohol. She would have passed out long ago if she was still human and had drank this much.
“Oh no!” Dana shrieked suddenly as she noticed the view of daybreak from the glass.
“What’s the matter?” Derick asked, surprised by her reaction.
“Look,” she pointed at the rising sun. “It’s daybreak and we haven’t fed yet; I must have lost track of time!”
“So?” Edmund said. “We’ve gone on without food for longer periods of time, I don’t see why we can’t skip a meal this time around.”
“The alcohol you all took is going to do a lot bad things to your belly, if you don’t take any b***d to quench it, you’ll regret ever taking a sip in the first place.”
“Oh,” Derick too had realized what Dana was talking about. Alcohol dries up b***d, and it definitely would dry up the one they had reserved from their last meals.
“So, what do we do now?” They asked her.
“How about we walk away from the sun first, I’m beginning to feel its impact,” Hillary said to them, and they began to go inside one by one.
“I thought this place closes by 2am, wouldn’t they have told us if they were going to close?” Edmund asked.
“They would have, it was already 1 o’ clock when we came here, so I kind of went to persuade the manager to give us an hour more. I thought they would have come to tell us if they were closing. I didn’t know we would stay here this long, it’s my fault, sorry guys,” Dana said.
“So now we can’t fly in the day, because people will see us, and we don’t know how many miles away it is before we can replace a forest in this crowded zone.”
Derick sat on one of the lounge chairs with a defeated sigh, he then became startled after picking up something from Dana’s mind.
“Don’t even think about it,” he told her after spying on her thoughts.
“It’s the only way, we won’t make it till the evening if we don’t,” she said to him.
Joana tried to get in on what the both of them were saying but couldn’t. It still remained a mystery to her how Derick was able to penetrate into Dana’s shielded thoughts but somehow, she couldn’t.
“And what if you end up killing one of them?”
“We’ll just have to be very careful, and ensure that none of them drinks too much. You and I have complete control over our hunger. We will just monitor the three of them when they feed.”
“And where will we replace enough humans to feed five vampires without killing?”
“Let’s head to my room,” she said. “I’m sure one of us will think of something when we reach.”
