Wedding Day Vampire -
Chapter 53
They stayed with Katariina for a little while before saying their goodbyes and heading for Pixieland. Joana, although happy, still found it hard to believe that her quest would be over soon. Finding these ingredients were no easy feat but she never would have done it without the help of the coven, as Dana had told her that Marylin took a much longer time to replace them on her own, even though she was a powerful vampire. She thought of them as they neared Pixieland, very soon this would all be over; she would be back home with grandma Jen and would be getting ready to wed at the altar with Andrew, and she wouldn’t have to worry about becoming a vampire again on her wedding day. She would miss her friends, Dana, Derick, Edmund and Hillary very much, she wished that there was a way not to cut off from them forever but there was nothing she could do. She had to choose which one of the lives she would live as she couldn’t live both; and she chose her human life because she knew that was where she belonged.
By the time they reached Pixieland, it was already morning but they were protected through the shades of the mighty trees of the forest. They went to see the queen first, who had never forgotten their help in saving Pixieland and welcomed them with a little pixie celebration by her dancers. They watched as the pixies danced around them and celebrate their saviors with music. Joana stood up to dance with the little pixies, being careful so as not to step on them or blow them off course. Derick watched her, mesmerized by her smile. When they were coming here, he slipped into her thoughts and realized that they were almost done with her quest, as soon as she gathered all these ingredients and presented them to the supreme council, she would become human and would have to return home. He felt bad, but he didn’t want Joana to see the disappointed look on his face. The worst part about all he felt for her was that they weren’t just feelings anymore; he had fallen in love with her, but it wasn’t from what he felt from Marylin, they were for Joana herself, the 200th descendant, who alongside Dana and the others, he had watched over since she was a baby, waiting for when she would join them. As he watched her grow, he realized that there was always a special part of his heart that raced for her. He couldn’t describe the feeling at first, but now that he had gotten to know her in person, now that he had spent time with her, now that he had made love to her, he realized that he loved this woman, even more than he had ever loved Marylin. It was much easier to let Marylin go, after her betrayal and everything she had done just to get with John, but whenever he thought of Joana leaving, a part of him just wanted to scream as loud as he could until she could hear them and decide not to go. Of course, he knew that wasn’t possible.
Joana then walked over to where Derick sat and yanked him out of his thoughts.
“Dance with me Derick,” she said as she dragged his hands and pulled him up.
Derick held her waist and began to dance with her, as she smiled at him again, this time looking into his eyes, he could have sworn that he resisted the urge to yank her clothes off and take her then and there, but of course, pixies were staring, so he had to exercise some self-control.
After their celebration dance, they went back to sit with the pixie queen who had enjoyed watching them all dance.
“Welcome to you both, so to what do I owe the honors of your visit?”
“We came to ask for some pixie dust,” Joana answered.
“Is that all?”
“Yes, that is all.”
“Well, that’s not a problem,” the queen said. “I will send for Mariana, she will give you some her pixie dust, she might be wingless, but she is one of the most powerful pixies in this kingdom. Her dust will serve you well. Besides, I am sure she would be delighted to see you again. Which reminds me, where is Dana?”
“She’s at home,” Derick said. “She couldn’t come but she sends her greetings.”
“Well send her mine too, and remember, whatever you vampires may need, we the pixies will always be at your service.”
“Thank you,” Joana said.
The queen then sent one of her pixie guards to give a message to Mariana. It didn’t take long before Mariana returned with some of her dust in a little bottle to where the queen sat with the visitors.

“Oh hello,” Mariana greeted as she saw Joana and Derick. “The queen told me that there were visitors who needed some of my dust, I didn’t know it was you, I would have brought some more.”
Joana spotted the bottle of pixie dust in her hand. She didn’t think that too much will be needed for the sacrifice, after all, the supreme council mentioned to bring only a speck.
“Thank you, I think that’ll be fine,” Joana said before receiving the little bottle that Mariana handed to her.
“So how did the search for the other diary go, did the indicator work?”
“Oh,” Joana had forgotten all about the indicator that Mariana had given to her, it wasn’t of much use to her, so she kept it in one of her bedside drawers, but now that didn’t matter because she had found the supreme council and the ingredients without the help of it.
“No, it didn’t work. But don’t worry, we found another way.”
“Ok then, it’s nice to see you both again, we hope you do come visit us more often.”
“Yes please, do come,” the queen joined Mariana to beckon on the vampires.
She tried to hide her guilty face and looked at Derick to save her from this situation.
She wanted to tell them that she would, but how could she tell them when in less than two weeks, she would become human again and all her powers, she had enjoyed in the past one year would be gone? She wouldn’t be able to see the enchanted forest, she wouldn’t be able to fly up to the watery cave to see the black dragon, she wouldn’t be able to enter the spirit world. And worst of all; she would never be able to see her friends again.
A question then popped up in her mind that a year ago, when she found out she had become a vampire, she never thought she would ask: But why had Marylin Lou wanted to give up this amazing life so badly?
