Wedding Day Vampire -
Chapter 57
Joana went into the kitchen and chugged down a whole gallon of vamscren. It was daylight, and she needed to go somewhere, anywhere in fact that wouldn’t remind her of the amazing times she spent with Derick. She needed a form of assurance that she was making the right decision. She needed to replace something that would remind her of the times she spent with Andrew, and she knew just where to go.
She left the castle and flew out through the gates in the direction of her neighborhood where she lived as a human. She knew that Dana had warned her not to do this until she became human, but she decided to risk it just this once. All she needed was a little convincing that she wouldn’t regret this decision she was about to make for the rest of her life, like Derick had said. Two things added to her doubts; the first of which was when the supreme council warned her that she was making the same mistake Marylin did in her past life, the second was when the evergreen river was trying to show her something that she thought would try to make her change her mind. Some part of her wanted to ignore those pointers, but they were just too glaring.
She kept on asking herself; what was the mistake Marylin had made in her past life? Did she ever regret her decision to become human? And what was it that the evergreen river wanted to show her then? She didn’t have an answer to any of those questions, and the part of her that wanted to return home didn’t want to replace out.
She kept on flying until she reached the lake that used to be her and Andrew’s favorite spot. This was where they used to hold their private celebrations. They would either make out, have a picnic, or Andrew would even play songs from his guitar for her here. They had a lot of fun times here, and she thought that coming here and reminiscing in those moments would take away the guilt she felt from rejecting Derick, would remind her of the love she felt for Andrew but it didn’t, she went to all the spots they had hung out near the lake, but nothing. She even tried to sing the song she remembered he had composed that he would sing for her on their wedding day.
I love my baby
And he loves me too
I’ll marry my baby
And he’ll marry me too
But still nothing. Was Derick right? Had she also fallen completely in love with him? She didn’t want to answer that question until she was completely sure. She began to walk on her feet towards her house, ignoring Dana’s warning. Besides, she would return here in a matter of days as a human anyway. She wasn’t sure it would matter if a few people saw her a few days earlier.
She decided to go grandma Jen’s house first. It had been so long she had been without her, and she missed her so very much. As she approached the house, she noticed a lot of people staring at her. She wondered why, but she didn’t want to attract any more attention to herself. She quickly ran to the neighborhood stores and bought a black wig to shield her blonde hair, and a pair of sunglasses. She put them on, she should look a bit different now. There was no way to see that as she couldn’t see her reflection in the mirror but she could tell because less people were staring as she now walked through the streets.
It didn’t take too long before she reached grandma Jen’s house. She had only been gone for a year, and everywhere looked a bit different. She walked up the patio and knocked on the door. She tried opening it but the door was locked. That was strange, it wasn’t typical of grandma Jen to lock her doors. But who knows? Maybe the reason why she never locked them was because her Joana was always close by. But now that Joana had left for so long, things might have changed.

She didn’t know where grandma Jen had gone to, and she didn’t want to attract any more attention to herself by going to ask the neighbors. The only thing she came here to do was to see her loved ones, to remind herself that she was coming home and she wouldn’t regret her decision in becoming human again.
But now that grandma Jen wasn’t around, she would just go over to see Andrew first, so she headed towards his parents’ house. She wondered what he would have been up to while she was away, and she couldn’t wait to jump into his arms and give him a nice k**s.
She rang the doorbell, and it was Andrew’s dad that came to open the doorbell. His jaw dropped upon recognizing the young lady that stood at his doorstep.
“Hello sir,” Joana said, removing the sunglasses.
“Joana!” Andrew’s father said. “Please come in.”
It felt good to be here, she remembered how it was just like old times when she would come to his parent’s house and would be welcomed with open arms. And now, she couldn’t wait to be reunited with her true love. It couldn’t have felt better to have proven Derick wrong.
