Welcome Home Mate -
Chapter 77
LEX
My mind was racing.
What happened in the last few moments was racing through my mind.
Roxie came here, and even though I told her not to, she came and saved us.
I didn't know whether I wanted to kiss her or spank her.
I could feel Blaze move in my head and growl in agreement with me.
I knew when I told her that she was turned on that she was going to say something, but I stopped her.
I had to look over my shoulder. Many faces were staring back, and they were all pack members.
I turned around to face them and walked toward them.
Many stepped back, scared out of their minds, but others stared, their faces stern and even harder to read.
What the hell happened to these people?
"They are scared," murmured Blaze, looking through my eyes.
I didn't say anything but looked around and noticed my driver, Huw, holding a girl's hand.
Where the hell was he? He was supposed to be looking after Roxie. I needed to talk to him, but it would have to wait, I thought.
I was about to say something, but someone placed a hand in mine, which sent tingles rippling through me like a hurricane that could clearly have knocked me off my feet.
I looked down and looked straight into Roxie's eyes. Her eyes were full of emotion, but she leaned up and placed her lips on my cheek.
She pulled back and smiled. "We need to help them," she said as she looked back at their faces.
I looked at them but back at Roxie. "I know," I said.
I looked at everyone and stepped closer to them, making sure Roxie was with me.
One thing she was right about: she was supposed to be with me for all of this. I knew I wanted to keep her safe, but I needed to start listening to her more.
Roxie stood next to me. I could feel her hand squeeze mine.
Blaze was up close but staring.
"They suffered," he murmured. "Mate can tell that."
I knew he was right.
"I'm Alpha Lex," I shouted. "I'm from the Blue Shadow Moon Pack. I am here as your new alpha."
I looked around, but no one said a word.
I turned to look at Roxie. "And this here is my Luna, Luna Roxie," I said and looked back at all the pack members.
I was about to say something when there was movement from the pack house, which made me look up and notice that there were women and children, children clinging to their mother's legs, scared.
"I want to help you all," I shouted. "I want you all to be safe."
"Safe," someone shouted, which made me look back at the ground, and a man stepped out. "Safe is not a word for this pack. Where were you when this was all going on? You are our new alpha, but where were you when we needed help? When our old alpha was delusional and threatened each one of us and even took our mates for his own."
I stared.
Alpha Trevor did a number on these people, and you could tell. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't want anything to do with us.
I cleared my throat, but Roxie spoke. "We didn't know what was going on," she shouted. "If we did, we would have come sooner."
"Bullshit," shouted another voice. "We sent people out to help, but no one came."
I looked at the face before me.
"Alpha Trevor is dead," shouted Rox, and she stepped forward and let go of my hand.
I moved toward her and placed my hand on her waist, gripping her hard. I needed her close to me.
Roxie looked up at me and smiled. "It's okay," she whispered as she placed her hand on mine. "I won't go anywhere."
I nodded and let her go.
Blaze whined from the loss of touch but came forward to see what was happening.
Roxie stepped forward and stopped.
"We didn't have any acknowledgment of what was happening here," she said. "If we did, we would have come sooner, but no one came."
Murmurs could be heard throughout the pack members.
Roxie looked around but carried on talking. "You all suffered due to Alpha Mac and Alpha Trevor," she shouted. "Alpha Lex is not like them; he is fair and loyal; he would die to protect his pack and even make sure everyone was safe. He wants everyone to be safe and also to feel free."
I stared at the pack members.
There were a few murmurs around.
I stepped closer and stared at the pack members. "My Luna is right," I shouted.
I closed my eyes and let Blaze come up with me.
I opened my eyes, and the pack members stepped back; some growled in fear.
"We are your alpha," we shouted. "We will protect you. We will give you a new meaning in life. But we also understand that you may want to leave after everything you have been through and more. We will allow you to make whatever decision you want, and we won't hold it against you."
Blaze moves back and gives me control.
"Alpha Lex is the alpha," shouted Alpha Dean. "I will stand by him, and if any of you want to leave, you are more than welcome to join my pack."
I was met with silence throughout the grounds; a few murmurs were heard, but nothing was said.
"What will happen to our homes?" someone shouted.
"An elder will be summoned here and will make the final decision about the grounds," I shouted. "This place is not fit enough for living, not since rogues have been here. They will replace a way to come here if you stay. There would be more fighting and death, and I don't want that for you, not any of you."
"Alpha Lex and I will open our pack to you," Roxie shouted. "We will give you all shelter, a new home for everyone. You will all be safe, and I promise you this, we are nothing like your old alphas. We believe in everyone's freedom, and everyone will have a voice. We have rules, and we expect you all to abide by them, but we will show you all leniency until you get your bearings."
I couldn't help but feel the warmth spread through me, knowing that Roxie would be standing beside me.
"I don't expect everyone to agree straight away," I said. "I would like you all to go to your homes and pack. Take what you need and want, but we will provide you with everything. I will ensure you are safe, and no one will be left behind, not until we know what you all want to do."
"You would let us leave," a woman shouted. "You would let us be free from a pack."
I looked toward the women. There were so many frightened faces, and many were teenagers. The rogues took everything for them. I couldn't let them suffer anymore, even if they didn't want to be part of my pack.
I heard what went on in that pack house when we came here. I know what some of the men did to them. They were afraid, but I didn't want them to think they would be subjected to anything that horrible again.
"I would," I said. "I would let you become rogues, but before you decide, I want you all to know this. I want you all to be safe, and I will make that promise. You will have a home for your families; we will build new homes for everyone. You will learn to fight; all members are trained within my pack, and my Luna can train even some."
I looked at Roxie, who was giving me a questioning look.
Blaze and I thought about letting her train the women of the pack, a job I know she will take.
It wasn't the time to talk about it.
I looked back at the pack members.
"I will let you all go home now and spend some time with your families," I said. "I will want an answer from you all within three hours."
All pack members talked at once and slowly disbursed around the pack grounds.
I watched all the men run to the women who were walking down the steps of the pack house.
Many kiss and cry, hugging their loved ones.
I wanted to take all their pain away.
"Do you think they will come with us?" asked Roxie.
I looked at her and shrugged. "I don't know," I said as I held my hand to her, which she took. I pulled her to me, and she slammed into my side.
I gazed down and stared into her eyes as I wrapped my arm around her waist and felt her warmth surround me.
She was meant to be in my arms.
Roxie placed her hand on my chest and pulled back slightly.
"I'm sorry I didn't listen," she said and went on her tippy toes and placed a kiss on my cheek.
She moved back, but my grip on her waist tightened.
Her eyes widened, but I couldn't hold back anymore and moved toward her lips, placing a hard kiss.
Tingles erupted through me as I licked her lips.
Roxie opened her mouth, and I slid my tongue into her mouth and kissed her deeply.
I didn't want the kiss to end.
