“Wait! I’m not calling to chat today,” Sam said solemnly on the other end. “I’ve already figured out what happened in Marvedis.”

Miranda instinctively sat up straight. “Go on.”

Sam was the first to know, and he had full confidence in his team. He wasn’t surprised by the outcome because it matched his initial suspicions.

He drummed his fingers on the table as his gaze was fixed on Miranda. He said playfully, “Since you’re the victim, you should decide how to deal with this matter.”

After being hurt multiple times and nearly losing her life, Miranda should have been furious when she learned who was behind it. Instead, she was calm, as if she had expected this all along.

“Okay. Let’s call the police,” Miranda said.

Sam’s gaze sharpened with curiosity, and he smiled. “Are you planning not to inform Hansel about this?”

“Why should I? We’ve been over for a while. I’m reporting this because Ingrid’s actions crossed legal boundaries. I’m doing this not to win anyone back or to get attention but to protect my life.”

Her parents had raised her with care and guidance. They didn’t do all that just for her to be betrayed and harmed. Miranda wasn’t about to play the martyr, whether for herself or anyone else.
