Chapter 0188
The more Evelyn thought about it, the angrier she became. The angrier she got, the more unwilling she was to let it go. She then actually chased after them.
Normally, she would never stoop to this level, thinking that only desperate people would cling on like this. But right now, she was no different.
She was clearly truly furious.
“Sharp–tongued and arrogant–no wonder they say birds of a feather flock together. Not a single one of you has any class!”
Winter burst into laughter at that. Insulting her was one thing, but dragging Miranda into it? Not a chance!
“You better shut your mouth, you old witch!”
“What? Am I wrong? She’s been with my son for six years and has nothing to show for it. Isn’t it obvious. she’s barren? It’s hilarious how defensive you’re getting–feeling guilty much?”
“Ha!” Winter scoffed. “Six years without getting pregnant, you say? How do you know it’s not your son who has a problem? He’s in and out of the hospital constantly, always drinking and smoking.
“You’d better have your precious son checked out instead. If there really is something wrong, that’ll surely be a big deal…
Winter’s eyes then shifted to Ingrid’s stomach as she spoke.
Ingrid’s face turned pale, and she hurried to defend herself, “I’ve only ever dated one boyfriend, and that’s Hans. I would never do anything to betray him…”
At the mention of her precious son, Evelyn got worked up. “How dare you spout nonsense! I’ll tear that mouth of yours-”
As if Winter would be scared of her! She immediately rolled up her sleeves. “Come on then, let’s see who’d tear whose mouth!”
Seeing the two about to get physical, Miranda quickly moved to calm Winter down.
Bewildered by the sudden turn of events, Ingrid stood to the side, not knowing how things had escalated so quickly. As Miranda approached, Ingrid suddenly cried out, “Ow!”
She then slid to the ground while clutching her stomach.
“My stomach! It hurts!”
Evelyn immediately grew anxious, forgetting all about her argument with Winter. She rushed to Ingrid’s side, terrified that something might be seriously wrong and that the baby could be in danger.
“Ingy, are you okay? Does your stomach hurt a lot?”
Ingrid shook her head, looking aggrieved. “I’m okay. I instinctively protected my stomach just now. I just don’t understand… why Ms. Sutton would push me?”
At those words, Evelyn’s venomous gaze snapped up to Miranda. “You can’t have a child of your own, so you can’t stand to see others have one? How could you be so vicious?”

Miranda was speechless. Were these two out of their minds?
She had seen Ingrid’s actions clearly. Worried that her act might go too far and actually cause harm, Ingrid had one hand protecting her stomach and the other bracing against the floor to absorb all the force.
It was a pathetic performance, utterly unconvincing.
Moreover, apart from forcing out a couple of tears, she had an expression of fake pain that was so stiff it was painful to watch.
Miranda looked down at her from above and calmly said, “Since you’re accusing me of pushing you, it would be a shame if I didn’t live up to that claim, wouldn’t it?”
With that, she reached toward Ingrid-
Ingrid immediately leaned back, trying to dodge. Realizing that Miranda wasn’t joking, she quickly backed down
“It was my own clumsiness earlier; it has nothing to do with Ms. Sutton. I’m fine now….
Evelyn asked, “Are you sure? Maybe we should get you checked, just to be safe?”
After all, the child in her womb was the Johnson family’s first grandchild!
Ingrid shook her head while speaking softly, “I’m really fine, Mrs. Johnson. We already got the results; let’s just go home.”
The baby was her ticket into the Johnson family. There was no way Ingrid would risk it. Even so, she just couldn’t resist trying to upset Miranda.
Evelyn finally relented. “For the sake of my grandson, I’ll let this go this time! Ingy, let’s go.”
