Chapter 0191
In Evelyn’s mind, her son was the best.
No matter what, her daughter–in–law’s education couldn’t be lower than a Master’s degree, preferably with a background from an overseas prestigious university
Ingrid fell far short in every aspect. Evelyn only reluctantly agreed to meet her because of the baby she was carrying.
As for marrying into the family..
Ha! As if!
After hearing Evelyn’s plan, Tina shrugged, unsurprised by this.
She tossed the scarf into the trash and wiped her hands with a wet wipe, as if afraid of catching some disease. –
“That better be it. Ingrid has nothing and she wants to be my sister–in–law? She’s not even on Miranda’s level.”
All Ingrid had was the title of a campus belle. Apart from a passable face, she had nothing to her name. Tina couldn’t understand what her brother saw in her. He must be blind!
“This is so annoying. I don’t want to hear about Hans‘ mess anymore, so don’t tell me anything. I’m heading out!”
Tina then grabbed some gifts and imported fruits, preparing to leave. She wanted to visit Christine and make another attempt. If Christine agreed to expand enrollment, she would still have a chance!
As Tina stormed out, Evelyn called after her, “The roads are slippery in this cold weather–drive carefully!”
When Tina arrived at Christine’s house, memories of her last rejection resurfaced, making her lips press into a thin line as a wave of nervousness washed over her.
However, this was about securing her spot in the graduate program, so she grabbed the gifts and got out of the car.
This time, she didn’t bring much, focusing on the idea that thoughtfulness counts more than the gift itself.
Before coming, she had practiced many times how to speak pleasingly and which angle made her smile
look best.
Walking along the serene path to Christine’s house, she didn’t see the professor herself but instead spotted a familiar figure tending to the garden.
Miranda?”
Christine loved plants. Living alone, she felt that having more flowers and greenery around made her home feel more lively, so she had set aside a small garden in the front yard.
Lately, she had been busy, and with the weather still cold, Christine worried that her carefully nurtured

plants might die from neglect. So, she asked Miranda to help take care of them.
Honestly, this job was perfect for Miranda. First, she was meticulous, and second, she loved gardening herself and had plenty of experience.
Christine valued her so much that she even gave Miranda the house keys. For the past month, Miranda had been visiting her house every few days.
Tina noticed the soil stains on Miranda’s gloves and the freshly turned earth in the garden, which was still damp from recent rain. Miranda had clearly been working for a while.
This time, Tina wasn’t naive enough to think Miranda was just there for some part–time job.
However, it seemed her relationship with Christine was clearly not ordinary!
Tina’s tone turned bitter. “I really underestimated you. I didn’t think you were smart enough to use these tactics to win over the professor. Is this why you scored so high in the interview?”
She had heard that many students would do anything to please their mentors. Though they were called students, they were more like personal assistants.
They would do whatever was asked of them, becoming something worse than dogs!
