“I remember you liked steak but found cutting it troublesome, so you’d rather not eat it. Since then, every time we had Jovanian food, I would cut it for you.”

Hansel choked on her response and set down his knife and fork. “You want to talk? Fine, let’s talk.”

Miranda instinctively sat up straighter.

Hansel glanced at the documents and pen she had laid out and gave a bitter smile. “If you didn’t need my signature, you wouldn’t have reached out to me at all, would you?”

She answered honestly, “No.”

He scoffed. “So, in your eyes, my only worth is signing this paper, and then we go our separate ways?”

Miranda’s tone remained calm. “We already went our separate ways long ago. It didn’t just happen now.”

“What if I refuse to sign today?” he asked, his voice slow and dark.

Miranda didn’t get angry, nor did she show any frustration. Instead, her expression reflected only confusion, as if she no longer recognized him.

“You already transferred the land to me, and you signed the contract. Why are you clinging to this consent letter now?”

Hansel responded, “Because I regret it.”

He regretted breaking up and letting her go. Even more he regretted not pulling her back sooner, allowing her to run free until she was completely gone.

Miranda found him unreasonable. “You gave me the land. You were fully conscious when you signed the transfer contract, and you weren’t coerced. Why go back on your word now?

“Yes, I took the land when we broke up, but I never saw it as a breakup gift. When the company became publicly listed, I was entitled to a portion of the original shares as one of the founders.

“However, due to the formalities, the authorities need this signed document, which is why I came to you. But that doesn’t mean if you don’t sign, the land still belongs to you.”

The transfer process had already been completed, and the land was legally under Miranda’s name.
