“Damn it!” Hank grabbed his foot, hopping around in pain. As he jumped, he let out a series of yelps. Miranda put on a look of surprise. “Oh, I’m so sorry. My hand slipped. But I’m sure getting hit is not a big deal to you because of your thick skin, right?”
Seeing this, Madison turned and picked up a table. That was where her weight came in handy. She had an insane amount of strength!
Dumbfounded, Hank stared at her in shock. “W–What are you doing?”
Madison answered, “I’m moving stuff…” Then, she threw the table straight at him.
Hank ignored the pain in his foot and immediately jumped out of the way. The next second, the table landed right where he had been standing. If he hadn’t dodged in time, he would’ve been knocked out cold. “You… You guys…” he stammered. How could they resort to violence? That wasn’t fair!
“Excuse me, coming through…” Sebastian had remained silent until now. He walked briskly over to Hank, then…
He stomped hard on Hank’s other foot before exclaiming, “Oh, I’m sorry! I was in such a rush today that I forgot my glasses. Did I just step on some trash?”
Madison shook her head and said solemnly, “No, not trash. At least trash can still be recycled. What you stepped on is worse than trash. He’s so dirty that no one would dare go near him.”
“You guys… You’re just a bunch of thugs! I’m telling you, you better move all your stuff out by today, or I’ll get the janitors to help you move!” Hank threatened, pointing angrily at the three of them before leaving.
However, his retreating figure appeared frantic and a little scared.
Madison stood with her hands on her hips, laughing heartily. “Hey, don’t run away if you’re so tough! Come back. I haven’t finished moving all my stuff yet!”
Nonetheless, her mood turned downcast after she was done laughing. “I thought we still had five days. Now, we don’t even have one full day.”
Sebastian’s expression darkened. “They’ve gone too far!”
Miranda thought for a moment and pulled out her phone. She went to a corner and dialed a number. “Dr. Jefferson, could you do me a favor?”
After lunch, the janitors returned. But this time, they weren’t here to move their stuff out.
“Sorry about earlier. We are here to help you put everything back in its place. The faculty just told us not to rush to move as we’ve been given five more days to do so…”
Miranda knew immediately that Paul must have spoken to the administration on their behalf. “Thank you so much for your help.”
“Oh, it’s no trouble at all. It’s our duty…”

Soon, the equipment was returned to its original position, and the lab was cleaned up spotless.
Madison and Sebastian exchanged glances and quickly donned their lab coats. They headed to the lab bench and started working. They only had five days…
Miranda soon joined them. The three worked nonstop until 10:00 pm that night. They ordered takeout for lunch and dinner so as not to hinder their progress..
Finally, Miranda glanced at her watch on her wrist. “It’s almost ten. Let’s wrap up for today.”
Madison replied, “Alright, we’ll continue tomorrow.”
Sebastian nodded as well.
They called a cab and headed home. Miranda was the first to get out. “Bye, see you tomorrow.”
“See you tomorrow,” they answered.
Miranda walked to her apartment building. A cold draft was blowing in the narrow, dimly lit hallway, so she pulled her coat tighter around herself.
“Miranda,” a voice suddenly called out.
She turned and saw Paul. He was dressed in workout clothes. His forehead was glistening with sweat. It was clear he had just finished exercising.
“Dr. Jefferson, it’s so late. Were you out for a run?” she asked.
