Chapter 0543

Miranda spoke about their past so lightly, as if everything now was completely irrelevant and unrelated to her life.

Hansel felt a deep frustration and helplessness. It seemed like the harder he tried to grasp at sand, the faster it slipped through his fingers.

Back then, he had brought his men and uprooted the flowers she had carefully planted. Now, he tried to make it up by giving her a garden full of vibrant flowers, but she couldn’t care less….

“It’s okay. If you don’t like it, we can go somewhere else…”

“No, I do like it.” Miranda looked directly at him with a steady gaze. “These flowers are truly beautiful. It’s natural for someone to appreciate their beauty and feel moved by them.

“But if this is just your means to win me back, and these flowers are actually mere tools to achieve that goal, then that is an injustice to their beauty. I don’t like the way you abuse them to your advantage.”

Hansel froze and murmured, “I just wanted to apologize for the mistakes I’ve done in the past.”

“You yourself said that this is in the past. Since it’s over, there’s no need to dwell on it,” Miranda said.

She added, “You’ve put so much thought into growing these flowers, so I hope you can genuinely love and appreciate them rather than measure their worth based on my approval of your efforts.

“For example, your life should be filled with work you enjoy, some moments of happiness, and periods of relaxation. You shouldn’t turn your life into a mess just to salvage a relationship that should have been left in the past.

“Hans, we are two separate individuals, each

with our own life goals. Because of that, our lives are destined to move in different directions. Once, we went through life together for a little while, but now we’ve parted ways.

“We should face each other with a friendly greeting when we meet and not agonize over whether we can still walk on the same path. Maybe we could, or maybe we would meet someone better in the future…

“Letting go of the past, living in the present with dignity and embracing a future full of possibilities… That’s what we should do, right?

After a year, Hansel finally heard Miranda call him Hans again. However, he felt no joy at this moment, only a stinging sensation in his eyes and nose.

It won’t happen…”

He wouldn’t be able to let go of the past, and he wouldn’t meet anyone better than her.

“Is there really no chance for us?” Hansel asked.

Miranda shook her head gently.

They had lunch at the estate. Miranda knew that Hansel had put much thought into preparing lunch as soon as the dishes were served, as they were all her favorite dishes.

It was quite ironic. He seemed to not remember back when they used to eat out frequently, but he could recall every detail now more than a year after their breakup.

“Try this, Mimi. I remember you like this… And this one too…”

Hansel kept serving her food throughout the meal, although he barely ate anything himself.

“Thanks, that’s enough. You don’t need to worry about me. You should eat too.”

“Alright,” Hansel said with a smile.

Miranda was truly pleased with the meal. Aside from the fact that dining with Hansel made her feel slightly awkward, the taste of the dishes and the ambiance of the environment were incredibly pleasant. The long table sat by the window that overlooked a vast flower field. The dishes before her were all her favorites, and even the wine was the kind she preferred. Both her taste buds and visual senses were completely satisfied.

“I’m full.” Miranda put down her fork and knife and wiped her mouth. She wasn’t lying. Indeed, she had eaten quite a lot.

Hansel smiled warmly, his eyes gently. “Would you like to take an afternoon nap here? I’ve had the rooms cleaned, and the sheets are all new.”

Miranda raised an eyebrow. “Is that okay?”

“Of course!” he replied.
