Chapter 0643

The Landon estate wasn’t the typical modern style mansion but rather a traditional courtyard afetome The front and back courtyards were interconnected, with the walls a faded gray, and some sections even peeling.

The front yard was paved with blue–gray stone, giving the place an old–fashioned look at first glance. However, the deeper they went inside, the warmer it felt. Dark red columns exuded an air of quiet dignity, while the raised corners of the eaves carried a certain commanding presence,

Alongside the stone path were small plots used for vegetable gardens. In the heart of Elgerson, right near the Old City, dedicating space to vegetable patches felt quite extravagant.

Sebastian saw them arrive and came out to greet them himself. “Come in, it’s warmer inside. Let me introduce you to my parents…”

His father, Scott, wore a gray suit and had a warm, scholarly demeanor. He had a look of calm strength shaped by the years.

His mother, Heidi Hale, wore a beige knit dress with a light coffee–colored shawl. Her fair, rosy complexion made her age indiscernible. Meanwhile, her hair was tied back with a simple pin, radiating natural grace and warmth.

Two words sprang into Miranda’s mind when she saw Heidi–poised and elegant.

If that wasn’t enough, Miranda and Madison were entirely speechless when they saw Sebastian’s grandfather. Madison stood there, frozen, as Sebastian led them to greet the elders before they were shown to their seats.

Once seated, she couldn’t help but tug at Miranda’s sleeve, nearly stammering, “Miranda, did you…. I… did you see that? Sebastian’s grandpa–I almost thought I’d stumbled into a news broadcast set!”

Miranda understood what she meant and patted her hand reassuringly. “Stay calm. Didn’t we prepare ourselves for this beforehand?”

“I thought I was prepared, but I didn’t expect it to be… this…” Madison struggled to replace the words.

Miranda and Madison each presented their gifts. They hadn’t had much time, so they had quickly picked something out together at the mall the day before.

Miranda chose the latest model of a VR headset, while Madison selected a pair of limited–edition running shoes. Sebastian looked genuinely pleased as he received them.

“Thank you both for coming.”

Madison clenched her teeth and muttered, “You never told us your grandfather was actually…” She trailed off, unable to finish her sentence.

Sebastian noticed that she still treated him the same. She was seemingly unaffected by his family background and shrugged with a slight grin. “You didn’t ask.”

Madison stayed silent.

There weren’t many people at the gathering. With the limited space, they had set up only two tables. There

was one for the Landon family’s relatives and friends and another for Sebastian’s invited guests, including Miranda and Madison. Even so, two seats remained empty at their table.

Aside from Madison, Miranda, and Sebastian, the rest of the guests at their table were Sebastient’s childhood friends. They were fellow kids raised in the old neighborhoods, and Sebastian introduced them one by one.

“These are my childhood friends. That’s Holden Delgado, Callan Laird, and Kai Cabot…”

They were all friends who had known Sebastian since they were young, so they understood his reserved personality and his reluctance to socialize. Given the Landons‘ background in public service, Sebastian had always been cautious about the people he befriended.

So, it was quite a surprise for them to see two unfamiliar faces–especially since they were both ladies. While they were surprised, their curiosity got the better of them.

One of the boys extended a hand to Miranda. “Hi, I’m Kai Cabot, like the sea. It’s a pleasure to meet you both.”
