Chapter 0920
First, biology was Christine’s main area of influence–her stronghold, so to speak. Given their shared connection, everyone was willing to give Miranda an opportunity to speak.
After all, who wouldn’t appreciate a talented student? Even if she wasn’t their mentee, she was still a promising young talent in the field of biology.
As for physics, Paul’s reputation alone was more than enough to open doors for her.
“This is Miranda Sutton, a mentee of Dr. Young..” He made no effort to hide his support for introducing her to his academic friends. Their relationship inevitably came up in conversation, but there was no ill intent in it.
“I rarely see Paul go to such lengths for someone. This is a real eye–opener,” someone teased with a laugh.
Paul replied calmly, “I studied under Dr. Young during my undergraduate years. Plus, Miranda and I are from the same college. Is that a problem?”
“No! No problem at all! If you’re happy, that’s what matters.”
Paul said nothing.
Elizabeth tried to join the conversation, but without Paul’s introduction or support, she stood awkwardly on the sidelines. It was like an influencer sneaking onto the red carpet at a film festival–no matter how bright the camera flashes were, none of them were for her.
After the morning academic exchange concluded, the participants had an hour–long lunch break. In the afternoon, everyone boarded a bus to Goldshore Fisherman’s Village, known as Moonville’s last “living” fishing village.
After over a decade of conservation–focused development, the village transitioned from traditional fishing to tourism. Despite that, significant efforts were made to retain its authentic fishing heritage.
It was customary for local governments to organize cultural tours during such summit forums and to provide a chance for attendees to relax and recharge.
The group first followed the tour guide to the Marine Fisheries Culture Museum, where well -preserved fishing gear and boats were on display. Next, they visited the old fishermen’s homes, where they could experience net weaving and fish preservation firsthand.
Afterward, the group was given some free time.
“Do you want to take a walk on the beach?” Paul asked.
Miranda nodded. “Sure.”
As they walked, she noticed many beautiful houses along the coast. After asking around,

she learned they were guesthouses. Each had a unique design, but all were equally charming in their own way.
Miranda strolled leisurely. Her eyes wandered from one detail to the next as she took in the sights with curiosity.
Paul followed closely behind her. While she was admiring the view, he was watching her.
The sea breeze was strong but refreshing. Since she was wearing canvas shoes that day, she slipped them off as she reached the beach to let her feet sink into the soft sand. The cool, gentle sensation made her close her eyes in quiet contentment.
“Give me your shoes,” Paul said.
“…Huh?” She was momentarily taken aback. “It’s fine. I’ll carry them.
He chuckled. “You’ve already taken them off. Are you sure you don’t want to play in the sand? Or maybe pick up some shells?”
Miranda hesitated and felt that carrying the shoes would be inconvenient. But she swore it was only for a moment. Yet, she couldn’t understand how Paul had seen through her thoughts.
Before she could protest, he took the shoes from her hands. With a smile, he pointed to a place not far away. “Go ahead and have fun.”
“Okay… Then, I’m going.” With that, she happily dashed forward toward the beautiful sea. Paul watched at her retreating figure with a smile. But there was a trace of indulgence and affection in his expression.
