When I Met You -
Chapter 3 Giving Birth to my Child
The briefing held by the European branch which Edward had attended lasted for a total of five hours, and by the time the meeting ended, it was already evening.
Susan was waiting for Edward to emerge from the office and when she caught a glimpse of his figure, she immediately lurched forward towards him when he was closing the door and fed him some water by using her own mouth.
Edward swallowed the water and took the opportunity to deepen their kiss.
Susan was very accommodative and her already tender and soft body was seemingly melting in Edward's embrace.
Edward continued to lock his lips with Susan's and he subconsciously moved her to the sofa in his office. At the same time, his naughty hand was already invading to the insides of her shirt, and he had already taken her bra off.
Just as he was going to remove her skirt too, Susan suddenly stopped Edward.
"My husband, you can't... it's not safe for us to do that. You don't have a condom, and my medicine has just been finished."
"Give birth to my child."
Edward was raising his eyebrows, and his deep and dark eyes were fixated on her.
However, Susan had already broke free of his grip. She said as she wore her bra again, "Let's go home first. We have everything at home."
She then headed to where the water dispenser was to drink some water, but Edward suddenly uttered these words while scrutinizing her back, "Susan, do you want to give birth to my child?"
Susan didn't manage to swallow her water and she almost spat them out. With much difficulty, she managed to retort, "My husband, if I give birth to your child, who is going to raise him up? It's March now, and the fastest I can give birth to a child is in the month of December. I don't want to end up a single mother.”
According to their contract, they would divorce each other in five months.
"Alright. Let's go home." Susan smiled so brightly that her eyes had bent into a crescent moon shape, and before she exited the room, she planted a kiss on Edward.
On the other hand, Edward was studying this woman while mulling over something in her mind.
If this was other women who learnt that they would have the chance to bear Edward's child, they would do whatever it took to bear his child. That way, they could be tied to Edward and live out the rest of their lives comfortably.
However, not only this woman didn't want to bear his child, it seemed that she wasn't the least bit affected by her imminent departure from him.
Ever since he had announced that their contract was not going to be extended anymore, Susan didn't show any abnormalities at all. She still carried out her task dutifully and served him well every day.
Her recent demeanour even caused Edward to reflect on his own charisma... Was this woman really just gunning for his money by being together with him?
"My husband, let's go."
Susan saw that Edward was still not yet out of his office, so she started to urge him again. At the same time, her phone suddenly rang.
It was an unknown number and the voice belonged to a woman. Her voice was as clear as a bird's and through the phone Susan could picture an image of a noble and majestic woman at the other end of the phone.
That woman began, "Hello? You're Edward's secretary, right? I couldn't get through to Edward the whole afternoon, can you inform him to call me back?"
"Alright, let me record this down. May I know what your name is?"
Susan immediately answered with a professional tone.
The woman at the other end answered, "My family name is Murray, and my name is Vanessa."
The moment she heard this name, Susan constricted her hands on the phone, and for some reason she could only repeat this name in her heart without responding to the call for a while...
The person at the other end discovered that Susan had become silent, so she reminded Susan, "Hello..."
Only then did Susan come back to her sense, "Oh, alright, I have recorded your name. I will pass on the word to Mr. Ford. Goodbye."
After saying that, she hung up the phone, but she found that she could no longer maintain her composure.
Although she was fully prepared to leave Edward, knowing that their marriage was just a deal, she still felt something nudging at her heart the moment she heard Vanessa's name. She thought that she wasn't emotionally invested in Edward at all, yet she couldn't stay clam when she heard Vanessa's name.
"What's wrong? Let's go home now."
At that moment, Edward emerged from his office and pressed his lips onto hers. He was pulling her towards outside.
Susan raised her head and asked, "Edward, did you switched off your phone because your phone has ran out of battery? There is a woman who told me she couldn't get through to you. She is asking you to call her back."
"Who are you talking about? Doesn't matter. I only want you now, Ms. White."
Edward ushered Susan to their customized elevator and descended to an underground garage to retrieve his car. Then, just as he was about to depart, Susan gnashed her teeth and put on a smiling face. She added, "Her name is Vanessa Murray. Are you sure you don't want to call her back?"☐☐☐☐☐
