When Love Comes Late
Chapter 2217

“The same is true for me and Sanford,” Stella retorted, her tone as rigid as her stance.

As they gazed into each other’s eyes, Stella and Matthew moved in perfect harmony across the dance floor, a symphony of motion that belied the simmering tension between them.

The illusion of unity was abruptly shattered when Matthew’s expression morphed into one of sudden alarm.

Stella, noticing the abrupt change, opened her mouth to question him.

But before she could utter a word, Matthew abruptly halted and released her from his embrace.

The music was still playing.

Stella was stunned.

Without uttering a word, Matthew turned on his heel and walked away.

As Stella watched him, she saw that he was heading toward the spot Lindsay had been in.

Yet, Lindsay was nowhere to be found at that moment.

Only the maid remained, anxiously speaking to Matthew.

Stella’s heart felt as though it were shattering.

Her husband had abandoned her midway through the dance.

How could she not perceive this as an insult?

Stella could almost feel the curious, pitying glances of the onlookers.

Forcing a smile, she retreated from the dance floor alone.

As she emerged, Sanford approached her with two glasses of wine.

He handed one of the glasses to Stella with a reassuring smile and remarked, “I heard there was an issue with that woman’s legs.

Instead of seeing a doctor, she chose to seek out Matthew, a businessman.

How intriguing.

With a composed expression, Stella accepted the glass and took a drink, attempting to drown her discomfort in the alcohol.

However, she drank too quickly.

Still recovering from a bout of alcohol poisoning the previous day, the spicy wine made her choke, causing her to cough uncontrollably.

Her face flushed a deep red from the effort, and it looked like she might be on the verge of vomiting.

Noticing her distress, Sanford gently patted her on the back and advised, “Drink slowly.

It takes time to appreciate the wine.

It took a while for Stella to regain her composure.

Her eyes were reddened-whether from the coughing or the bitterness in her heart, it was hard to tell.

Seeing her state, Sanford continued, “Have you given it any more thought? If you don’t divorce Matthew, incidents like today will recur.

No one wants to deal with another woman in their relationship, especially when Matthew seems to have forgotten everything that matters.
