When Love Comes Late -
Chapter 2229
Only then did Stella feel a wave of relief.
Noticing the tension still etched on her face, Cordell gently reminded her “There’s no need to be so anxious.
These symptoms are typical after memory loss.
”
Stella nodded, and then handed him the car keys.
“I’m heading out.
Can you take him home?”
Cordell, though unaware of what had transpired between them, hesitated to accept the keys without understanding the full situation.
He glanced at Matthew and noticed his clear displeasure.
After pausing for a moment, Cordell tactfully declined, saying, “I’m afraid I can’t-there’s something I need to take care of later.
”
Caught in a dilemma, Stella felt conflicted.
She already felt bad for having called Cordell to the hospital so late and didn’t want to impose further.
Ultimately, she had no option but to take Matthew back herself.
As they exited the hospital, she said, “Wait here while I go get the car.
”
With that, she started walking toward the parking lot.
Matthew suddenly called out, “Wait.
” Stella stopped and turned, her brows furrowed in confusion as she met his gaze.

In a low voice, he said, “Let’s walk together.
”
Stella didn’t respond, but her silence was a quiet agreement.
The parking lot was only a few hundred yards away.
Beneath the soft glow of the moon, they walked in silence.
Yet, there was an unexpected sense of ease between them, a simple, unspoken contentment.
When they reached the car, Matthew paused suddenly.
Something about the moment stirred a forgotten memory.
He looked into her eyes, asking softly, “Did we often take walks like this before?”
Stella halted, a flicker of sorrow crossing her eyes.
She suppressed the rising emotions and responded softly, “Yes, we’ve taken many walks like this before.
”
Without lingering, she quickly opened the car door and urged, “Get in.
”
Matthew, offering no further words, circled to the passenger side and entered the vehicle.
As she buckled her seatbelt, Stella gently reminded him, “You heard what Cordell said, right? Don’t overthink.
Don’t push yourself to figure it out on your own.
Take your time.
Maybe in a few days, everything will come back naturally.
”
Matthew sat in silence, listening intently.
Somewhere in the fog of his mind, that soothing voice seemed familiar, as though it had always been there, offering comfort and advice.
He glanced at her, pondering.
Most of the memories tied to Stella were filled with tension and conflict.
But something deep inside told him it wasn’t supposed to be this way-—there was more, something unspoken between them.
His eyes grew clouded with thought, and a renewed determination to recover his lost memories took root within him.
Without a word, Stella started the car.
