When Love Comes Late
Chapter 2235

Matthew stared at his screen as the minutes ticked by, but he never mustered the courage to call.

Early the next morning, Doreen arrived at Prosper Bay to pick up Stella for the meeting.

She was instantly alarmed when she saw Stella’s pale complexion.

“Are you all right? Are you feeling unwell?”

Stella shook her head.

“I’m fine, it’s just a stomach bug.

I already took some medicine last night.

I’m definitely feeling much better now.

“I still think you need to lie down and rest,” Doreen remarked.

“Why don’t we drop by the hospital first?”

But Stella stubbornly refused.

“No, really, there’s no need for that.

The meeting is about to start.

We can’t afford to be late.

“Then let me get you some more medicine to bring along,” Doreen insisted, still worried about her.

“Just in case.

Stella heaved a resigned sigh and pulled Doreen into the car.

“I’m telling you, I’m fine.

You don’t have to fuss over me so much.

Seeing that Stella wasn’t budging, Doreen had no choice but to give up.

“Then rest in the back seat, at least.

Close your eyes and take a nap.

I’ll wake you up when we get there.

Stella didn’t respond, nor did she ease up like Doreen hoped.

Instead, her eyes were glued to her tablet as she reviewed the agenda of today’s meeting.

Throughout their drive, Doreen kept stealing glances at Stella.

Her heart ached with sympathy as she took in the exhaustion written all over Stella’s face.

“You’ve put in a lot of work into this product launch,” she said, hoping her chattering would distract Stella.

“You wouldn’t have to slave away so hard if you asked Prosperity Group to step in and help.

Mr.

Clark is so good to you, I’m sure he would help you establish the brand.

You wouldn’t have to drive yourself to such a terrible state.

If Mr.

Clark replaces out that you’ve worn yourself out to this extent, he would be beside himself with worry, too.

Stella’s lips twitched into a small bitter smile when she heard this.

Doreen was unaware of Matthew’s amnesia, and Stella had no plans in explaining the matter to her.

“This is my studio, my own little passion project.

What little help Prosperity Group extends is only because they hold a 5% stake from when the studio was founded.

I can’t take any more than what they’re willing to give.

In truth, Stella had already made up her mind about one thing-if Matthew insisted on a divorce, she was going to take back that 5% stake, no matter what.

The studio was the product of all her hard work over the years.

It was her everything.

Meanwhile, Doreen was frowning in confusion.

She couldn’t wrap her head around Stella’s words just now.

Stella and Matthew were a couple, weren’t they? Why did they have to be so precise about their finances? Considering Stella’s poor condition, however, she wisely held her tongue.

Stella and Doreen soon arrived at Prosperity Group.

After parking, they headed straight for the elevator.

When they entered the lobby, the receptionist recognized Stella and rushed forward, thoughtfully pressing the CEO’s private lift button.

While they waited, the receptionist greeted her warmly, “Good morning, Mrs.

Clark.

Did you come in early because you knew Mr.

Clark worked through the night?”

Stella blinked in surprise, not expecting that Matthew had been at the office handling business.

Had she misjudged him last night? Stella felt a pang of remorse.

Her words to Matthew the previous night were far too severe…

The elevator crept upward, arriving at the level reserved for the CEO’s office.
