On the other end of a phone call, the tension that had clouded Matthew’s face lifted instantly at Stella’s admission.

Excitement taking over, he ended the call, grabbed his car keys, and sped off to the bar.

As he drove, Matthew’s hands trembled on the wheel, a storm of elation sweeping through him.

In that moment, all the pent-up frustration and irritation that had accumulated over the past few days seemed to dissipate from his mind.

Suppressing the rapid beating of his heart, Matthew approached them.

Turning to Miley, his voice was hushed but quivering with barely contained excitement.

“May I have a moment alone with her?”
