When Love Comes Late -

“I will.
I’ll also frequent the hospital when I can,” Flossie replied.
Matthew nodded, even though she couldn’t see him.
“There’s one more thing…”
Inside Clint’s hospital room, Stella had been keeping vigil.
Clint lay in the bed quietly.
His face was as pale as paper, and his face was sunken and wrinkled.
In Stella’s memory, Clint always had a kind look on his face.
Seeing him with a different expression now, Stella couldn’t help but feel sad.
Slowly, Clint opened his eyes.
“Stella.
”
“I’m here, Grandpa.

He shook his head.
“Help me sit up.
”
Rushing to his aid, Stella helped him into a sitting position.
Noticing her reddened eyes, Clint expressed his regret.

“I’m sorry, Stella.
I shouldn’t have agreed with Matthew to deceive you.
”
“It’s not your fault, Grandpa,” Stella interjected, cutting him off gently.
“Focus on getting better.
I can manage everything else.
”
She picked up a lunch box from a nearby table.
“Miley sent over some food.
Try to eat something and then rest.
”
Recognizing Stella’s reluctance to discuss the matter further, Clint sighed but chose not to press.
He was still frail and soon fell asleep after eating just a few bites.
Exiting the room with the lunch box, Stella closed the door gently behind her.
That’s when she overheard a voice in the hallway declaring, “I heard that he’s dying?”
Stella’s brow furrowed at the sound of the familiar voice.
She turned and saw Aziel approaching, accompanied by a woman with garish make-up.
