When Love Comes Late -
Chapter 895
Matthew frowned, his warm breath brushed against Stella’s face as he spoke.
“I told you not to contact Farris anymore.
Why would you bring up his name?”
Stella met his unwavering gaze and pursed her lips.
“He’s my friend.
Now, he’s facing accusations from both the hospital and Blue Flame because of me.
I believe it’s imperative that I speak with him face to face this time.
”
Stella’s words extinguished Matthew’s initial interest entirely.
His icy gaze remained fixed on her face, and in that moment, he recalled Farris mentioning that Stella had been with him before.
However, he hadn’t taken those words seriously back then.
After all, during the year he had married Stella, there had been no contact between her and Farris.
It was only Clint’s illness that had brought Farris into her life.
Stella was legally his wife, and even if she had known Farris earlier, that fundamental fact couldn’t be altered.
Matthew was confident that he wouldn’t allow their past relationship to rekindle.
Yet, here was Stella, speaking up for Farris.
Could it be that she was concerned about him?
Matthew couldn’t accept that notion.
With this thought, anger began to well up inside him.
He struggled to contain it, guiding Stella to a nearby chair.
Turning away, he tugged at his tie, the anger simmering and intensifying.
Noticing Matthew’s growing anger, Stella cast her eyes downward, pondered for a moment, and then continued, “Matthew, I’ve had previous contact with Farris, and I believe he’s a good man who wouldn’t harm me.
There must be some kind of misunderstanding.
”
“He won’t hurt you?”
This remark only further fueled Matthew’s fury.
He turned around, his expression tinged with self-derision, and approached Stella.
His tall figure loomed over her, casting a shadow.
After a brief contemplation, Matthew adopted a more serious tone.
“Do you really have to meet with Farris?”
Stella met his gaze with determination and replied, “Yes.
”
Stella’s resolute answer left Matthew feeling frustrated.
He looked down at her and spoke in a deep, commanding voice.
“Do not seek out Farris, or you will regret it.
