Chapter 144

James’s eyes lit up. He hadn’t expected that Gina would relent to his persistent postering. Though it was a shameless tactic, it proved effective. James knew he couldn’t negotiate with Gina, so he quickly responded, “Please, tell me what you need!”

“First, during the two days I was falsely accused and held in detention, Jason posted two provocative tweets that had a severely negative impact on Prover Hospital, causing losses of at least 20 million dollars. Moreover, not long ago, a woman showed up at my doorstep and threw paint at me, leaving a death curse. While she insisted to the police that she did it because she didn’t like me, my investigation revealed that this woman was a crazed fan of Jason, who he incited to carry out the act. It has upset me,” Gina said.

Upon hearing these words, the three of them tensed up involuntarily.

“So, you want me, as the older brother, to teach Jason a lesson?” James asked.

“Teach him a lesson? He did something wrong: doesn’t he need to face the consequences?” Gina retorted coldly.

“Of course, he needs to.” James quickly responded, inwardly breaking into a cold sweat. He couldn’t help but marvel at how the tables had turned; he never imagined seeing the day when he had to be so humble before Gina

“I want Jason to compensate Prover Hospital for its losses and withdraw from the entertainment industry. You must accomplish both tasks without exception,” Gina stated firmly. Gina had once lent a helping hand to Jason, assisting him in making him famous in the entertainment industry. It could be considered a gift she had given to the Miller family. Now, she was reclaiming it.

James fell silent for a moment.

“If you can’t do it, then don’t bother me. If you insist on loitering at the entrance, I can remove you. Or perhaps you want to end up being fully paralyzed, lying at the hospital entrance,” Gina threatened bluntly.

Jason’s heart skipped a beat as he listened to Gina’s tone, realizing she wasn’t joking. He swallowed hard, acknowledging that he had indeed overstepped earlier. He lowered his head and said, “I will do my best…”

“So, are you leaving now?” Gina’s tone was stern. “I don’t want to see you. If you don’t want me to change my mind, disappear from my sight

immediately.”

The Miller family understood that it was best to leave things as they were and reluctantly departed.

Unable to bear the separation, Ella took a few steps before turning back; seeing Gina’s departing figure, a surge of motherly love overwhelmed her. “Gina, make sure to eat more regularly. Look at how thin you’ve become. It breaks my heart just seeing you like this,” she said, her voice filled with

concom.

Gina didn’t look back, mocking, “Your concern comes a bit late. Did you notice I’m thin today? For someone who doesn’t know, they might think today is our first meeting.

Ella was left speechless. James tugged at her sleeve, indicating that she should leave quickly and not express her sudden overflow of love here, lest it upset Gina further.

Dylan rolled his eyes dramatically at the backs of the three, muttering, “Thicker skin than a fortress wall.

He felt somewhat indignant on behalf of Gina. “If he ends up being admitted, I’ll replace a way to make him uncomfortable!” he exclaimed, wanting to help

Gina vent her frustrations.

Gina smiled. “No need for that. If he’s admitted, he’ll be another patient needing care. Normal treatment will do. I know you want to stand up for me, but

there’s no need for that.”

Dylan sighed. “Gina, you’re just too kind.”

Is that so? Gina felt indifferent about it. In truth, James had a point. Her compassionate heart was responsible for her ability to establish such a

successful hospital.

The three returned to the Miller family home. Jason rushed over. “Mom, bro, how did it go? What’s Gina’s attitude toward us now?”

They reached a consensus in their quest for Gina’s forgiveness and return to the Miller family. They understood that directly asking for forgiveness from Gina wouldn’t work. Gina wouldn’t forgive them outright, it would be a prolonged battle.

Ella glanced at Jason but remained silent. Jason felt a bit confused because he sensed resentment in her gaze. What had he done wrong?

James cleared his throat awkwardly. “Jason, we’d like to discuss something with you.”

Jason had a sense of foreboding. “What is it?”

“Take a seat, let’s talk.” James gestured towards the sofa.

Jason sat down, and James wasted no time getting to the point. “Jason, as you know, I’ve had this leg injury for a while now. It’s not getting better at Central Hospital. I need to go to Prover Hospital for treatment if I want a chance to walk again.”

Jason nodded in agreement.

“But getting a bed at Prover Hospital is extremely difficult. However, Gina is the director there. If she’s willing to help us out, getting me admitted for treatment would be a simple matter. You wouldn’t want to see me stuck in a wheelchair forever, would you?”

Jason nodded subconsciously.

“Alright, I won’t beat around the bush with you then. Gina said she could help me bypass the application process, but on one condition: you must leave the entertainment industry.”

Jason’s composure vanished as he rose from the sofa. “What does she mean? Is she deliberately making things difficult for me? After all the struggles I’ve been through in the industry and finally gaining the opportunities I have today, she wants me to quit. I won’t agree to that!”

James was interrupted by Jason before he could finish speaking Feeling that his position as the older brother was undermined, his expression. darkened, and he emphasized, “I’m not done yet.”

Jason could only patiently listen as James continued, “Furthermore, those two tweets you posted had a very negative impact on Prover Hospital. In just two days, they caused the hospital to lose over 20 million dollars. Gina also mentioned that you’ll be responsible for compensating these losses.”

Jason was furious. It wasn’t that he couldn’t come up with the 20 million dollars; after all, he had earned a fortune from endorsements and even held global concerts. Jason had several million dollars in liquid assets. However, he was reluctant to compensate Gina with that money.

After James finished speaking, he continued to put pressure on Jason. “Jason, whether my legs can recover depends on you. I know these demands are tough for you, but we’re family. When the time comes to help each other, we should. Don’t you agree?”

Jason gritted his teeth and said, “Fine, I can compensate, but I won’t agree to quit the entertainment industry!”

James’s expression darkened. “Gina said you have to both compensate and quit the industry. These two things are non–negotiable. Otherwise, she won’t agree to arrange for my admission.”
