When They Beg, I Rise! -
Chapter 121
Lemira didn't even need to turn around to know what Evelina was up to.
Over the years, she had fallen victim to Evelina's schemes more times than she cared to count.
She could practically see Evelina's tricks coming with her eyes closed.
Without looking back, Lemira grabbed the hem of her dress.
As she sidestepped, she gave her dress a sharp tug.
Evelina, stepping on the dress, lost her balance completely. She tipped over, taking the glass of red wine with her, right into the center of a meticulously arranged champagne tower. Evelina crashed right into it, sending the whole structure tumbling down on her.
The incident happened so fast, it caught everyone off guard.
Lemira stood coolly on the spot, watching Evelina's disastrous tumble with a trace of mockery flashing in her eyes.
After all these years, Evelina's tactics hadn't changed. Too bad she wasn't going to let Evelina have her way this time.
As the champagne tower collapsed, nearly everyone in the hall turned their attention to the spectacle.
"Eve, are you alright?" Alaric and Lucian rushed over immediately.
Alaric stepped over the shattered glass to help Evelina up. "How could you be so careless?"
Soaked and in pain, with fresh blood dripping from her arms and legs, Evelina was fuming inside. It was Lemira who was supposed to be in this mess, not her!
She looked up at Lemira, her eyes red, biting her lip. "Alaric, it's my own fault. I wasn't pushed."
Hearing Evelina's thinly veiled accusation, Lemira's lips curved into a smirk. She had anticipated this move.
Lucian, catching Evelina's glance towards Lemira, wondered if Lemira was the instigator.
"Eve, since it's your own doing, be
more careful next time. Let Alarice
take you to the hospital," Lucian said not following the script Evelina had expected.
Evelina was stunned. She had looked at Lemira deliberately, hoping to hint at her involvement without directly accusing her.
Alaric pressed, his tone icy, "Eve, tell me the truth. Did Lemira cause your fall?"
Evelina shrank back, whispering, "Alaric, please, it's not Lemmy's fault. I was just clumsy."
Her response was loaded, suggesting more than she said.
Alaric scoffed, turning to Lemira. "Why would you do this to Eve? Just because I chose to bring her to the gala instead of you?"
He couldn't think of any other reason for Lemira's actions.
Lemira raised an eyebrow. "Alaric, I had my own invitation. I didn't need to be brought by anyone."
Her confidence was palpable.
Alaric, feeling uneasy, countered,
"Don't I know you? You've alwave et
been jealous of Eve stealing the spotlight, so you decided to hurt her
Lemira laughed off his accusation. "What spotlight does she have that I would want to steal?" Alaric was at a loss for words.
Jessica sneered, "We all know
Lemira is the star tonight, invited as a popular online streamer. What spotlight does Evelina have without even an invitation? I don't get it!"

Michel added, "Do the Langstons live in a world of their own? Isn't Lemira the celebrity tonight? Who's overshadowing whom, exactly?"
Each word was a sting to Alaric, leaving him with a face changing colors faster than a chameleon.
Evelina, holding back tears, looked at Alaric. "Please, stop. It's my mistake, Lemmy had nothing to do with it."
Touching her bracelet, she sighed, "Such a shame. This bracelet is broken now. It's pretty expensive, right?" Alaric glanced at the broken bracelet, then coldly turned to Lemira. "Are you happy now?"
