When They Beg, I Rise! -
Chapter 146
Lemira tugged her lips, "I did say."
Lucian's face turned pale instantly, "I-I must've been too caught up with work and forgot, I'm so sorry. It's my fault for holding you back. Don't worry, the Langston Group has plenty of projects too, you can join in anytime." He couldn't bear the thought of Lemira joining another company.
Lemira's clear eyes made Lucian's heart sink further. She spoke calmly, "Forget about it. I want to choose where I go."
"Lemmy, I really forgot."
Thaddeus immediately interrupted, "What were you doing until now? Now that you realize how amazing she is, you regret it? Too late, she can go wherever she wants. Don't try to guilt-trip her!" Lucian was left speechless. He genuinely forgot.
Lemira didn't even glance at Lucian, turning to the manager instead, "The software testing's all good?"
"It's fine, but the boss has the final say."
The manager looked at Thaddeus, internally questioning how the boss seemed to know this technician. And the technician, seemed to be Ms. Langston! What's going on?
Thaddeus touched his nose, "I think it's fine, but we should have the company's consultant take a look."
Orion put down the document he was holding, his gaze serene as he looked at Lemira, "The firewall is solid. We'll encounter the same issue with the software upgrade, though, so it'll need your follow-up." Lemira nodded, "I know. It's related to the firewall's design. If it becomes too much of a hassle later, we can switch to a different firewall."
"This firewall you designed is quite unique. If used correctly, it will significantly enhance the game's stability and be hard to imitate. However, you've overlooked one thing."
Lemira and Orion discussed the firewall back and forth, leaving no room for others to chime in.
Lucian observed the confident and graceful smile on Lemira's face, so different from the Lemira he remembered.
He felt a sense of melancholy looking at Lemira, who had changed and grown so much. She was no longer the little sister following him around.
Thaddeus cleared his throat at this, "Alright, discuss this privately later. If the firewall's fine, then let's proceed with the contract."
For Sweet Lemon's sake, the contract would continue.
Lucian felt conflicted. Glancing at
Orion, he knew this man wasn't just a simple school doctor. Yet, he still
couldn't figure out what Oristill
story was.
real
Lemira hadn't expected this company to be connected to both Thaddeus and Orion.
The meeting room was filled with an awkward atmosphere. It felt like a failed blind date.
Suddenly, Lucian spoke up, "Since the contract is signed, how about we celebrate with a meal?" Orion's eyes narrowed slightly, remaining silent.
Lucian turned to Lemira, "Lemmy, this is your first project. You'll get a share of the profits once it goes to market. I think it's a good idea for our companies to celebrate together ahead of time."
Lemira noticed all eyes turned to her. She glanced at Thaddeus and Orion, wondering if she should refuse. After all, it's about company cooperation. Orion saw Lemira's hesitation and took the initiative, "That's fine."
Seeing him agree, Lemira nodded as well, thinking it wouldn't hurt for a meal.
After deciding on the meal, the group headed to the restaurant.
Inside the large private room, Lucian first addressed Orion, "Dr. Everhart, I didn't expect someone with your professional background to have such diverse interests."
Orion's tone was cool, "Well, at least my family never suppresses my interests in the name of 'fairness'."
Lemira curled her lips slightly, thinking he was clearly taking a jab at Lucian.
Unperturbed, Lucian countered, "And what does you family do?"
