The teacher seemed to do it on purpose. He couldn't fathom why the Langstons were against Lemira attending Orvin University. "Are they nuts?" the teacher wondered quietly. Asher's face turned sour in an instant, "Haven't I already turned down the admissions officer from Orvin University?"

"But it's Lemira's own dream. She deserves to make her own choices, even her family shouldn't stand in her way." "No way, I won't allow it!"

Asher looked directly at Lemira, "With your temperament, you'd only stir up trouble at Orvin. Who would be there to bail you out? Staying local is the best option for you." When Evelina heard Lemira could go to Orvin University, envy bubbled up inside her. Why couldn't she get in, yet Lemira could do so effortlessly?

Evelina echoed, feigning concern, "Yeah, Lemmy, stay here with me. It's better with family around to look out for you. Why leave everything behind for a place so far away?" Why did Lemira get to go to Orvin University!

Lemira smirked, "For someone like you who couldn't even get into a community college, Orvin University would be a daydream for you. Expect me to stoop to your level? Don't you feel shameless?" Evelina was left speechless, her face turning a bright shade of red.

The admissions officer walked up to Asher and shook his hand, "Mr. Langston, your sister you raised up is truly exceptional. It would be a shame if she didn't go to Orvin University."

Asher's face stiffened, given Lemira's sudden academic surge was as surprising to him as to anyone else.

He spoke with a cold expression, "But we've always kept our kids close to home. Orvin University isn't the right fit for her."

Lemira's tone was impassive, "Have you forgotten? I signed a severance agreement yesterday. I'm no longer a Langston. You have no say in my future!"

Asher felt his pride wounded,

"Lemira, getting cocky, aren't you? Think you're something special because you aced an exam? In the end after graduation, you'll still need the Langston family!"

The admissions officer quickly let go. of the hand, turning to Lemira and saying, You don't need to worry about employment, Lemira. Ofvin University has its reputation

OUMS

"To think of putting a top scorer and a community college student in the same school, never seen someone being so much of favoritism. What a nutcase!" Someone from the admissions office made sure Asher heard that as he walked away.

This only fueled Asher's fierce temper towards Lemira.

"Now are you satisfied, Lemira? What's there to be proud of!"

Lemira's lips curled slightly, "Well, being the top in the city does feel pretty satisfied. Unlike some, who couldn't even cheat their way above the line." Evelina's face red with anger, "I didn't cheat! It was Judy who begged to copy my answers."

The teacher couldn't stand it anymore, "Did Judy come?"

That was when a plain-looking middle-aged couple approached, their eyes shrewd, "Judy admitted to cheating. She was too ashamed to come to school and ran away. We're here to apologize on her behalf."

Something felt off to Lemira upon hearing this. She glanced at Evelina secretly, whose expression remained unnervingly calm, as if she had anticipated all of this. Was what happened to Wendy repeating?

Lemira spoke up directly, "I think Judy herself should come to school to own up."

What if Evelina had bribed Judy's parents to lie for her?
