Lemira locked eyes with Asher, a hint of a smile playing on her lips.

She said, "Let's wait until the event is over. No rush, especially with all these eyes on us. A copycat can't turn the tables!"

"Watch your words, Lemira!"

He couldn't believe she just called him a copycat!

Asher was fuming.

This wasn't even his original plan; he had merely adapted Lemira's idea on the fly.

Lemira just scoffed mockingly and returned to her seat among her colleagues.

The presentation continued, leaving the folks from Maple Group utterly astounded by Lemira's performance.

The man who had doubted Lemira was now sheepishly hanging his head low.

The manager hesitantly spoke up, "Lemira, that Mr. Langston is your brother after all. Are you really planning to pursue this to the end?"

It turned out Lemira was the affluent Ms. Lemira, yet so hardworking and intelligent. She left no room for the average Joe!

Lemira replied coldly, "I've already cut ties. He and I have nothing to do with each other."

The manager, trying to appeal to her familial ties, added, "But he's still your brother."

"Yeah, and he's loaded. It's a shame to cut ties, isn't it?"

Everyone dreams of having a wealthy brother!

Lemira grew impatient, "I don't need your advice. As the project's lead engineer, it's my duty to see this through. Our company's work was plagiarized, and I will get to the bottom of it!" Lemira's tone was assertive, leaving the manager no choice but to drop the subject.

Then, Lemira's phone buzzed.

She glanced at the message: [Lemira, this issue with Asher isn't his fault. Could you please let it go? Consider it a favor to me.]

Tch!

A trace of scorn flashed in Lemira's eyes. So, he was begging her?

He made it sound so pitiful, so reluctant.

Lemira met Alaric's gaze, her expression cold as she deleted the message without even considering a reply.

Alaric, seeing her reaction, knew she hadn't agreed.

Asher turned to Evelina and Alaric, "You better figure out how to explain this to me!"

His meticulously prepared project was utterly overshadowed by Lemira!

He couldn't swallow this defeat.

If it weren't for Evelina's stolen ideas, none of this would have happened!

After the meeting, the director spoke briefly before concluding the session.

But nobody left; the scandal of the Langston Group's plagiarism was yet unresolved.

Everyone was eager to see the outcome.

Lemira watched as Asher, with a stern face, stood up and walked out with Evelina and Alaric.

Outside.

Asher was visibly irritated, "What are we going to do about this mess? Did you two not realize Lemira set us up?"

Imbeciles!

Evelina, tearfully, explained, "Asher, I was outsmarted by Lemira."

Alaric, glaring at Evelina, retorted, "It was clearly you who got played. should have stopped you where realized, instead of being persuaded to join you in this mess!"

Evelina's hands trembled.

Her voice quivered, "Asher, I was blinded by the desire to see you succeed, especially with all the effort you've been putting in, and the pressure from the Sinclairs. I

Lemira failed, she'd realize how tough it is out there and come back to the Langston family. I'm sorry, Asher. It wasn't intentional on mine or Alaric's part."

Asher, frustrated, adjusted his tie, "What am I supposed to say to you two? Think of a way to fix it!"

Alaric, surprised, glanced at Evelina before saying, "Asher, this wasn't my doing! Evelina was the one who snooped on Lemira's computer!"

"It's all my fault, I did it. Alaric has nothing to do with it."

Evelina shrank back, looking utterly forlorn.

Asher glanced at Evelina, then

turned to Alaric with dissatisfaction, "You're her brother. How can you just wash your hands of the affair

and let Eve take all the heat?
