Gilbert gave it a couple of tugs, all in jest.

"Hey, hey, hey!" Gilbert burst into laughter, begging for mercy, "Alright, alright, I give up!"

But then he continued, "What's there to be embarrassed about? Love and passion, it's all natural... Ow!"

Sherilyn tightened her grip, and Gilbert was sure he was about to become bald!

Dodging her, he quickly ran downstairs and placed her on a chair in the dining room.

"Just a sec, dinner will be served in no time."

The housekeeper had left dinner ready; the rice and soup were kept warm in the pots, but the dishes had cooled off.

Mr. Johnson quickly reheated the dishes, served the rice and soup, and placed them in front of Sherilyn.

"Dig in."

Too hungry to speak, Sherilyn just nodded, nearly burying her face in the bowl.

"Take it easy," Gilbert frowned, "Slow down, don't choke yourself."

Yet, he himself was eating even faster. After filling up, while Sherilyn was still sipping her soup, Gilbert casually picked up his phone and dialed a number. "It's me, yeah... Check a number for me."

The call was to Charles, concerning Rebecca.

"Let me know as soon as you have something. Alright."

After hanging up, Sherilyn, now full, was gazing at him expectantly.

"What's up?"

Gilbert raised an eyebrow, "Looking at me like that, got your fill and now you're after me? Ah..."

He sighed, standing up.

Bending down, he lifted Sherilyn, "Alright, here you go. Ah! Ouch!"

A scream, real and earnest, as Sherilyn pinched him hard on the arm.

Sherilyn squinted her eyes, grinding her teeth, "All day long, can't you think of anything else? Be careful not to wear yourself out!"

"Ha ha."

Gilbert laughed heartily, "Don't worry, your man is in good shape! No need to worry about things that are decades away."

Decades?

Sherilyn fought the urge to roll her eyes. He sure was confident!

Yet, a tremor of warmth went through her heart. Decades? Did he really think they'd be together that long?

Charles soon had news.

The next morning, upon arriving at the office, Charles sent him an address.

"It's a landline, hidden through tech means."

But Gilbert had yet to visit this place.

"Mr. Gilbert, should I check it out first, or will you?"

Glancing at the address, Gilbert felt a personal visit was better. So replied, "I'll go, you don't need

worry about it." Content benet

"Alright, Mr. Gilbert."

Perfect timing, Sherilyn was busy with a training session for a performer and would be late. He'd take this chance to see what was going on.

Maple Grove House.

Rebecca, blind, had no idea where she was or why she ended up here.

She was supposed to be in the hospital.

Waking up, she found herself inexplicably here.

At first, she thought she'd been kidnapped or something similar.

But, it didn't seem like it.

She was living here, well-cared for by servants, with a doctor visiting daily to check and dress her wounds.

In short, she was treated with utmost care.

However, she couldn't make any contact with the outside world.

Besides the servants, there was a bodyguard who, while protecting her, an eye on her. The furthest

Card who, while p

she could go was the yard

As soon as she approached the gate, the bodyguard would appear, telling her, "Ms. White, it's time to go back."

How could she not be scared? It felt like she was being under house arrest here!

The doorbell rang, someone had arrived.
