"Nanson?" Gilbert's grogginess vanished almost instantly. "How on earth is Sherilyn connected to him?"

"You really have no clue?"

"Of course not!"

Up until this point, Gilbert hadn't even been aware that Sherilyn knew Nanson.

Yates dropped his teasing tone, getting serious. "I only caught wind of it myself. Heard Sherilyn's been seeing Nanson about managing some asset transfers and selling off her real estate... What's she up to, huh?"

Clutching his phone, Gilbert's expression darkened suddenly.

Yeah, what is Sherilyn up to?

"Transferred to where?"

"Crestwood."

...

Some tests required fasting, so they couldn't be done that day.

The nurse scheduled Sherilyn for an appointment the next morning.

Since she had to wake up early, Sherilyn decided to spend the night at Rebecca's place, so they could head to the hospital together the next day.

Even though Rebecca was blind and couldn't physically assist Sherilyn, her company alone was a comfort, ensuring Sherilyn didn't feel so alone.

In Sunhaven, they were each other's only friends.

Before going to sleep, Sherilyn received a message from Nanson.

[The day after tomorrow, come by my law office. We'll need your signature on some documents.]

[Okay.]

Sherilyn sent her response.

If the hospital visit went well, she could be out of Sunhaven with Jenna by the end of the week. So, she opened the flight booking app to reserve tickets for herself and Jenna... But she didn't make it to the next day...

In the dead of night, Sherilyn was jolted awake by a sharp pain in her abdomen, her skin breaking out in cold sweat. "Ugh, oh..."

She tried to bear it, but the pain was too intense!

The moment she cried out, Sherilyn had a bad feeling...

"Sherilyn?" Rebecca, awakened by her cries, fumbled to grasp her arm. "What's wrong? Were you the one calling out?"

"Yes..."

The pain was unbearable; Sherilyn

could only nod weakly. Suddenly, her body stiffened, gripping Rebecca's hand tightly. "Rebecca! I think something's terribly wrong!"

"What?!"

Rebecca, her eyes wide open yet seeing nothing, was both shocked and helpless. "What's wrong? Where does it hurt?"

"I'm... bleeding!"

This was different from the minor bleeding she had experienced during the day. Sherilyn could feel it; it was like a heavy period. Blood was flowing profusely. "What do we do?" Rebecca panicked, helpless in her blindness.

Since Sherilyn was staying over, Rebecca had given her hourly

worker the night off. Now, in the net

house, it was just the two of them, both in no shape to help the other.

"I'll make a call..."

Bearing the pain, Sherilyn gasped for air, grabbed her phone, and dialed 911.

"Hello... yes, this is Emerald Estates..."

20 minutes later, the ambulance arrived, transporting Sherilyn to the emergency vehicle, with Rebecca accompanying her to the hospital.

"Doctor, how is it?"

Sherilyn lay weakly on the emergency room bed, her complexion pale to the point of transparency.

"Just a moment..." The doctor, holding the emergency report, looked troubled as he glanced at Sherilyn, hesitating. "Did you come here alone?"

He gestured towards Rebecca. "I don't mean a friend. I'm asking about your husband, any immediate family members with you?"

Sherilyn felt a chill, her heart jumping to her throat. "Doctor, is it my baby? Is something wrong?"

The situation seemed grim, and the doctor spoke the truth. "Yes, to be precise, you have an ectopic pregnancy."

What?! Sherilyn's mind exploded in

shock, causing her to sit up abruptly, her hands gripping the edge of the bed tightly. "Impossible! This can't be happening!"
