And yeah, Sherilyn was taking Jenna along.

Jenna was so little, and not exactly in the best of health...

Gilbert instantly felt a twinge of regret. He shouldn't have smoked so much just now. Grabbing a pack of gum, he threw three pieces into his mouth and started chewing mechanically.

The sickly sweet taste spread across his tongue. He wondered, maybe it could tone down the smell of the smoke a bit?

Fifteen minutes later, Sherilyn emerged.

Gilbert straightened up and walked towards her, his gaze burning into her. "Sherilyn."

Sherilyn frowned, avoiding his gaze. "If you've got something to say, just say it."

"It's not really the place here."

Gilbert glanced at her expression and said lightly, "How about we replace a cozy spot to sit down and talk?"

Why? Sherilyn looked up, puzzled.

But he seemed pretty insistent. With no other choice, Sherilyn nodded. "Alright."

The area wasn't bustling with activity. Sherilyn led Gilbert to a dessert cafe she and Jenna had just visited.

They sat down opposite each other.

"What'll you have?"

"Nothing for me." Sherilyn shook her head. Was she here to drink something?

Gilbert decided for both, "Then, two strawberry milkshakes. One for you, one for me."

Saying so, he got up to place the order.

Watching his retreating figure, Sherilyn was filled with doubts. Strawberry milkshakes...? And two of them?

Before she could ponder any further, Gilbert returned with the milkshakes, placing one in front of him and the other in front of Sherilyn.

"Drink up."

Sherilyn frowned slightly, then replied, "Thanks."

Then she asked, "What did you want to talk about? Can you say it now?"

Gilbert, however, seemed in no hurry, cradling the milkshake and taking a deep sip.

"Mmm, so sweet, like happiness in a cup."

Sherilyn shivered; those words... they were the same as Jenna's earlier. A coincidence?

Gilbert, holding his cup, gently swirled it around.

With a soft chuckle, he murmured, "I know a little girl named Jenna. She loves strawberry milkshakes the most..."

"And she's really into Minnie Mouse."

As if fearing Sherilyn wouldn't understand, he explained.

"You know, Mickey Mouse's

girlfriend, wears a red bow. Jenna has a Minnie Mouse toy the same size as her, even Minnie Mouse hair clips..."

Listening to his words, watching his lips move, Sherilyn clenched her fists.

Her gaze fixed on him, her blood racing!

She understood!

He knew everything!

Where did she slip up? How did he replace her so unexpectedly?

Gilbert finished his puzzle, his smile

"Quite the coincidence, I saw her just now. Jenna, with her mom."

"!!"

Sherilyn stiffened. He knew! He had seen them!

"Sherilyn."

Gilbert sat up straighter, leaning in slightly, his eyes piercing as if trying to unravel her.

"Yes, I saw you with Jenna. Jenna calls you mom."

A smirk played on his lips. "Jenna, she's your daughter."

Finally, it was all out in the open!

Sherilyn felt a twinge in her heart,

Hoveling

but she managed a small smile and nodded. "Since you've seen us together... yes, Jenna is my daughter." én.swnovels.net

She admitted it! Jenna was her daughter! Jenna was three years old!

Gilbert's gaze deepened, and he reached out to hold Sherilyn's hand. But suddenly, he was at a loss for words.

"Sherilyn, I..."
