"Sherilyn! Cut it out!"

Just when Caroline was about to lose her cool, Gilbert wrapped his arms around Sherilyn's waist and hoisted her up.

"We're leaving!"

"Gilbert!"

Sherilyn was stunned, her legs kicking in the air, but eventually, she couldn't overcome his height and strength.

And just like that, Gilbert carried her away.

They didn't go far, just to the main hall of the clinic.

Gilbert set her down, "Don't even think about running. You've got short legs; I could catch you no matter how far you run!"

"Why would you catch me?"

Sherilyn flicked her slightly disheveled hair, teasing, "Your crush just confessed to you. Shouldn't you be over the moon and immediately accept her, so you two can live happily ever after?" "Still going on about that?" Gilbert raised his voice, "That was just a joke!"

"A joke?"

Sherilyn stopped laughing, getting serious, "Trust me, woman knows woman better. She wasn't joking; she really likes you...mm..."

Her words were cut off by a firm kiss.

This kiss, punishing in nature, was deep and nibbling...

"Ouch!" Sherilyn frowned, trying to protest.

But he didn't stop, rendering her protests futile.

Two minutes, five minutes, ten minutes... longer...

By the time he let go, Sherilyn's lips were swollen, a vivid red hue visible.

Gilbert looked somewhat pleased but also frustrated, his fingers tracing her lips, "Talk nonsense again, and I'll kiss you! Starting at an hour, see if you still want your mouth then." "How is that nonsense?"

Sherilyn clearly didn't take his words seriously; she was serious about the matter.

She looked at Gilbert skeptically, "Do you really not believe, or is it because you've been waiting so long that you've lost the sense of reality? Afraid to believe? Well, I can tell you, it's true. Your dream girl really confessed to you...mm..." Once again, Gilbert leaned down to kiss her.

Their breaths mingled, and he

ced lowly, "If you want a kiss et

just say it. No need to beat around the bush."

"Mm..."

Sherilyn's eyes widened, her waist feeling his palm pressing against it.

"Focus, we're just kissing here!"

...

Sylvia's examination results were fine, but she needed to stay in the hospital for overnight observation.

Gilbert then dropped Sherilyn back at Sunset Ridge Community.

She was silent the whole way, not wanting to give anyone an excuse to start.

He stopped at her apartment's entrance, "I have to go to the

hospital early tomorrow, wo

able to pick you up. I'll get you from the set in the evening."

Sherilyn looked at him, knowing she couldn't persuade him otherwise, so she didn't bother trying.

"Go inside," Gilbert ruffled her hair, "Get some rest."

Then he advised, "Just focus on your acting. Don't just add anyone on social media, some men are no good."

Hearing this, Sherilyn couldn't help but scoff. Yeah, the worst one is right in front of her!

Leaving Sunset Ridge Community, Gilbert returned to Johnson Mansion.

He had just been discharged and

was staying alone at Golden Oaket

Manor, but Sylvia insisted, demanding he stay at Johnson

Mansion for the time being.

As he approached the staircase, he bumped into Caroline coming down for a drink.

"Caroline." Gilbert paused, a tad uneasy.

"Back already?" Caroline appeared nonchalant, lifting the glass in her hand.

"Just getting some water, heading back up."

"Mhm." Gilbert nodded slightly.

He stood still, watching her leave, deep in thought.

Was what Caroline said really just a joke?
