Gilbert felt a jolt run through him, his nerves tightening like ropes pulled taut over a blazing fire.

His face said it all.

"Of course!"

Edgar, suddenly fueled by a surge of emotion, charged at Gilbert, grabbed him by the collar, and demanded, his voice thundering with accusation.

"You think you're better than me? But what have you done that's so great, huh? You still put her in danger, didn't you?"

The image of Sherilyn trapped in a blaze haunted Edgar.

"Do you have any idea? It was so close! If I had been any later, Sherilyn could have been crushed or burned alive!" Gilbert's eyes froze, his body rigid.

He hadn't witnessed the scene himself, but the mere thought was enough to make his blood boil and his soul tremble in fear!

"Even now!"

Edgar scoffed, his heart aching, "Can you guarantee Sherilyn is safe now? What if she has lasting damage?"

Physical or emotional!

Edgar's voice grew louder and more furious, "Sherilyn suffered because of you. Where were you when she needed you most? Weren't you the one who claimed to be invincible? Where were you when it mattered?" Gilbert's lips parted slightly, but no words came out.

His face was a mask of stoic coldness.

"Ha, ha!"

Edgar let out a bitter laugh, his eyes filled with scorn, "Sherilyn is really unlucky, huh? To end up with two losers like us!"

Both claiming to love her, yet neither able to keep her safe, to give her the peace and happiness she deserves...

Suddenly, the door to the emergency room swung open.

"Is Sherilyn's family here? Please come over!"

Both Edgar and Gilbert looked up, but Edgar was quicker on his feet, rushing forward.

"I am!"

"Sherilyn is being moved to a regular room now. Please fill out the paperwork!"

"Right away!" Edgar took the form from the nurse.

After the paperwork was completed, Sherilyn was transferred to a regular room.

Edgar and Gilbert remained outside, still not having seen Sherilyn.

"Nurse," Edgar pointed to the door, "How is she? Can we go in to see her?"

"The patient is awake, but she's very weak. She just finished oxygen chamber therapy and can't speak

yet. You can visit her... one atak

time,

and quietly, please."

"Got it, thanks!"

Hearing that Sherilyn was awake, Edgar breathed a sigh of relief, his heart finally settling.

He didn't glance at Gilbert as he made his way to the room.

But just as he touched the doorknob, Gilbert grabbed his arm. They locked eyes, neither willing to back down.

Edgar, usually so composed and polite, frowned, "The nurse said one at a time!"

Gilbert gave a slight nod, unyielding, "I'll go first!"

"On what grounds?"

"Huh..."

"Enough!"

yel?

The nurse unable to bear the scene any longer, intervened, "Stop it! What do you think this place is? A marketplace? This is a hospital. Please, keep it down!"

Then, turning to the two men, she asked, "Among you, does anyone have the last name 'Bell"?"

"I'm a Bell!" Edgar responded quickly, a spark igniting in his eyes.

"Then you go first."

The nurse pointed to the door, "Just before,

heard her whispering

something that sounded like liner

It

must be you, right?"

"It's me!"

Edgar's spirits lifted, and he nodded eagerly, feeling a surge of encouragement, "Then I'll go in first."

Without another look at Gilbert, Edgar pushed the door open and entered the room.
