Chapter 154 Is He Playing Tricks?Maia had no time to say anything when Buck gave Hope another piece of chicken.

“Ms. Maia is your boss during working hours, but she’s your older sister when we're off work. As your sister, I’m sure she wantsyou to be fed well. Weight management isn’t as important.”

Buck looked at Maia and grinned widely. “Am | right, Ms. Maia?”

“Aren't you a little too obvious, Buck? You didn’t want her to care about her weight because you care about her?” Maia teasedhim..

Buck hesitated. His face turned red. Then, he continued eating and avoided both of their gazes.“Hope is your younger sister, Ms. Maia. And I’m your assistant. It’s my duty to express concern on your behalf.”

“So that’s how it works!” Maia was not done teasing him. Buck was even more embarrassed now. Hope noticed nothing amissand proceeded to give Buck some mashed potatoes.

“Thank you, Buck. Here, you should eat more! Next time, dinner’s on me!”“That won't be necessary. | can’t let a lady treat me to a meal. I'll take care of the bill.”Maia burst into laughter when she saw the way they were going back and forth. She continued to tease them.

‘Perhaps you guys should just pay for your own food. It’s more convenient that way and you. don’t have to argue about who footsthe bill.”

Buck stopped biting instantly. He looked at Maia and said softly, “You’re the worst, Ms. Maia.”

“What did you say, Buck? Maia’s the worst? How’s that possible?” Hope stared at him, not understanding the reason behind hiswords. Maia, on the other hand, caught his drift.

“Maia is the best sister anyone could ask for...” Hope started to defend Maia. That made Maia laugh again.

Buck knew he could not keep this topic going. He changed the subject. “The administrative department has announced thisyear’s team-building event. We're going to do it with Sunny Videos. Also, we’re having a party with them.”

Maia was enjoying her dinner, but she was stunned when she heard what he said.“With Sunny Videos?”

“That’s right. It’s a collaboration, so industry people and the general public will be paying close attention to this event. They mightbroadcast it live.”

“| think they worry too much. These unfounded rumors don’t usually last long,” Mala said. Was there really a need to organize aparty and a team-building event to tell the world about our collaboration?”

“You're right, Maia,” Hope said. Then, she realized something.

“Wasn't Sunny Videos acquired by HL Corporation? Does that make Cedric the owner? Is it possible they did all this for you,Maia?”

Hope stared at her with widened eyes. She could not believe what she just said.

“Do such reckless men exist? Did he actually organize a team-building event just to get a shot at hanging out with you? That's alittle much...”

Buck tugged at Hope’s shirt, signaling her to stop. Fortunately, Hope got the hint. She gulped.down some soda.

“Sunny Videos invited us, Ms. Maia. We'd look bad if we reject them. It would be humiliating for them, too, and their staff won’ttake it well. It’s not going to bode well for future collaborations.”

Buck saw that Maia was frowning. He tried harder to persuade her. “The administrative department must've thought about thatand agreed to it.”

That was true. They had just signed a contract with Sunny Videos. They could still

with the collaboration even if she rejected the invitation, but it would no longer be smooth sailing.Furthermore, there was simply no need to cause a disruption when it was just a team-buildingevent.

“Okay. Let's proceed.”

Buck was surprised by her steadfast answer.

Maia nodded and said casually, “Yeah. You're right. Sunny Videos invited us. It doesn’t matter

Maia burst out laughing.“So, who’s your ex-boyfriend?”Buck was unnerved by that question. Hope paused for a few seconds before saying, “Let the past stay in the past, Maia!”

“I'm your boss during working hours. So, | have the right to know about your history. At the same time, I’m your sister when we'reoff work. Don’t you think your sister has a right to know?” Maia said. “Still, you have the right to remain silent.”

Maia was not about to put Hope in a difficult position, especially with Buck around.
