Chapter 880 A Change in the Groom

Samuel shook his head. "He said he only trusts himself to protect you, so he wanted to keep you close. But he's

realized that he shouldn't make decisions for you under the guise of 'doing what's best' or force you into anything. So, he gave you two choices."

Emelie asked, "Marry you, or marry him?"

Samuel clarified, "Marry me, or cancel the wedding."

Emelie frowned. "What about the Filo family's reputation?"

Samuel smiled. "Reputation is fleeting. Your happiness is what truly matters."

Emelie stared intently at Samuel, who was waiting for her answer. His gaze behind his gold-rimmed glasses was warm and compassionate.

Emelie swallowed hard, then she suddenly smiled. "Samuel, you look quite handsome in wedding attire."

Samuel was momentarily taken aback.

The Atlantis Hotel, a top-tier luxury hotel, was one of the few in the world. Even a standard room came with an eye -watering price tag. This is not to mention the presidential suite, which cost several hundred thousand per night. The Filo family's commitment to this wedding was reflected in their arrangements. They had booked the entire hotel for a week to accommodate the wedding guests, the cost totaling an eight-figure sum.

Even Patrice, who grew up in wealth, couldn't help but marvel at the extravagance.

She said somewhat begrudgingly, "Will, it seems like you've lost."

They were also staying at the Atlantis because they had been invited to the wedding. Emelie had indeed sent them invitations. They had come and were now staying at the same hotel. Patrice found it almost surreal.

William was calm. He wasn't bothered by such comparisons. He sat by the floor-to-ceiling window, sipping a cup of tea.

Outside, the night view of Mercianna was serene and beautiful, with colorful neon lights illuminating the streets. As he slowly savored his tea, he fell into deep thought.

All of a sudden, the doorbell rang, bringing him out of his reverie.

Patrice wondered who it could be. She opened the door and was surprised. "Lyle?"

Lyle quickly entered after greeting her. "Will, will!"

William turned to look at him.

"How can you still be in the mood for tea?" Lyle asked urgently, sitting down across from him. "Do you know who's getting married to Emelie tomorrow?"

William had thought that it was something serious. He poured out two cups of tea and placed one in front of Lyle. He said nonchalantly, "I know. It's Wesley, her brother. If she insists on it, what can I do?"

"If they want to get married, they can go ahead. I don't believe that their marriage can last, given Wesley's hypocrisy and Emelie's reserved nature. It's just a title." His tone was calm and resigned.

He continued, "She's caused a lot of trouble for the four families and ruined many people's livelihood. She needs someone to protect her from retaliation. If she were the matriarch of the Filo family, no one would dare to harm her. That's quite good."

He finished his tea after speaking and lowered his gaze. Then, he meticulously added water into the teapot, brewed the tea, and poured it out.

Lyle took a deep breath and calmly told him, "It's not Wesley."

William didn't catch that. "What?"

Lyle repeated, "The groom is not Wesley. It's Samuel, the fourth son of the Swanson family."

William's hand shook, spilling tea on the table. He quickly used a napkin to soak up the liquid and looked up in disbelief. "How is that possible?"

Patrice immediately crouched beside them, her ears perked up.

Lyle licked his lips. "It's true. I saw it with my own eyes. They were strolling around the manor in wedding attire. Unless Wesley likes being cheated on, I can't think of any reason he would let Samuel try on the suit meant for him.

So, the only explanation was that there was a change in the wedding plan. The groom, specifically.

Patrice was alarmed. "What should we do, Will?"

Initially, she didn't know anything. But during their trip to Mercianna, with William's tacit approval, she had pestered Ashton for details about his and Emelie's past.

The revelations were so shocking that she thought that if Emelie continued to be involved with William after she got married, it would be acceptable. Their relationship seemed to thrive on a certain twisted and unhealthy dynamic.

However, if the groom had been changed to Samuel, it was a different matter entirely.
