Chapter 899

Yennifer continued to answer their questions. "I want to thank Mr. Graham's ex-wife. She's a very kind and gentle lady. On top of that, she is also an outstanding maritime explorer." She paused, then added, "In case any false rumors arise after tonight that tarnish her reputation, I want to clarify that her separation from Mr. Graham had nothing to do with me. Let's not lump all women into a romanticized narrative.

"She loves freedom. She could sail the Caribbean with just a dog, a cat, and a boat. Her courage and ambition are admirable.

"When she learned about my situation, she not only kept my secret but allowed me to hide under her identity.

"For those 15 years, I lived as her, thanks to her allowing me to replace her. This is how I managed to escape the persecution of the four families. Mr. Graham and Ms. Fallon are benefactors I will never forget."

For 15 years, Yennifer lived in seclusion, claiming that she was treating her illness. Given Norman's standing, no one dared to offend him by insisting on seeing his wife.

Moreover, they hired a new batch of maids. Hence, even if someone tried to bribe them, they wouldn't uncover her secret. That was how Yennifer and her son, Wesley, avoided detection for so long.

There were many foreign guests present who had been given translation headsets. They initially thought that these were just for convenience, but now realized they were for following the story.

A Faldorian guest asked in Faldorian, "Why didn't you seek help from Mrs. Denning? Couldn't she have avenged you or protected you?"

Yennifer took her seat again. "Mrs. Denning was not a soft-hearted woman under her harsh exterior. She was strong-willed and uncompromising. If she said that she wouldn't forgive me, she meant it.

"The only mercy she showed me was leaving me alone upon replaceing out that I was hiding safely at Mr. Graham's and not in danger. She didn't contact me once in those 15 years, so why would I ask her for help with revenge?

"Of course, I knew that, even if I had begged her, she wouldn't help. And in the face of the powerful Four Families, she wouldn't risk the future of the Filo Group to support me, her ungrateful daughter."

Westerners could understand that perspective. A mother didn't necessarily have to unconditionally love her children or sacrifice everything for them.

A strong, assertive woman like Amelia Denning wouldn't compromise her own well-being for others, even if that meant her own daughter. She cared more about whether she would be disrespected in the future. She would only do something if she was willing to.

Another guest asked, "So why did Mrs. Denning finally accept you and Mr. Cronus back into the Filo family?"

"This might surprise you, but she came to replace me first." Yennifer spoke with a hint of pride. "Since I left home, I hadn't seen Mrs. Denning for 25 years. She came looking for me because she sensed that her time was running out and the Filo family needed a capable successor."

"Of course, that successor wasn't me but my son, Cronus. She said that she had been secretly observing him for two years." Yennifer smiled faintly.

She said, "She wanted my son to go to Faldoria and undergo her successor's test. She was quite straightforward, saying it was what I owed her. After all, she gave me life and raised me for 18 years, and I should repay her. I truly admire Mrs. Denning. She will always be a Queen."

She nodded. "I agreed because it was my only chance to avenge Xander. So, I left Mr. Graham's protection and returned to the Filo family with Cronus."

Yennifer had kept a low profile while being Norman's wife. On top of that, 15 years was a long time, so people's memories had faded and blurred.

With Norman's guidance, everyone came to believe that Norman's ex-wife was indeed Yennifer. Hence, they seamlessly swapped identities.

Yennifer sighed. "Mrs. Denning was 78 years old, but she still had a keen eye for talent. She chose Cronus, believing that only he could carry on the Filo legacy. The current situation proves she was right.

"She didn't act rashly. She set several tests for Cronus, and only after he passed all of them was he granted the title of Filo family heir. Less than three months later, Mrs. Denning passed away.

"In her final year, she arranged everything perfectly. Even though I had always been distant due to her harsh upbringing, I truly respected her.

"She was the finest woman I've ever known-strong, self-assured, and unaffected by marriage or familial bonds. Her goal was to keep the Filo family's ship sailing until the end of time.

"Hence, she didn't forgive me as her ungrateful daughter, but rather accepted my son because the Filo family needed a successor."

Emelie regretted not being able to meet her maternal grandmother in person. However, Wesley had once mentioned that her personality was a bit like Mrs. Denning's.

Yennifer had shared a lot that night. She took a sip of red wine and continued, "I've gone off track a bit, so let me return to the point.

"Cronus took over the Filo Group as my son. There were many objections within the family, like from Natalia Filo. Cronus faced a lot of attacks.

"Hence, although we later acknowledged Mandy, we decided to keep her identity hidden to avoid those attacks. She joined the board as Cronus's fiancée, giving her authority while

keeping her out of the limelight."

They had discussed the explanation.

Yennifer stood up again and walked toward Emelie. "The wedding invitation didn't specify the names of the bride and groom to create a surprise. But make no mistake, this wedding was for my daughter, Mandy Pierce. The groom's identity doesn't matter. The bride, who is the only true star, is Mandy.

"Today, I can finally reveal these secrets and officially introduce Mandy Pierce to you. She's Amelia Denning's granddaughter, my daughter, and Cronus's sister."

William, who had been holding Emelie's hand, let go at this moment.

Emelie looked at him, and he smiled gently, encouraging her to step forward. This was her journey to complete, and she deserved the spotlight alone.

Emelie pressed her lips together, stood up, and moved toward the stage.

Yennifer extended her hand. "The name Cronus was given by Mrs. Denning. She was always

fair. Not only did she leave 10% of the Filo Group shares to Mandy, but she also gave her a

name Tethys.

"Tethys, welcome back home."
