Worship The Ground You Walk On
Chapter 56 We Are Done

"Don't play stupid. You're only fooling yourself."

Kim looked at Hanna who looked so weak and innocent. Her gentle eyes were pure and clear. However, she might be able to deceive most men with that, but Kim could easily see her through. It took a woman to know another one. Kim knew Hanna wasn't the woman she appeared to be.

Kim had known that since the first time they met.

Now it turned out to be as what she expected.

Hanna looked so confused. She asked Kim, "Miss. Moe, what are you talking about? What did I miss? What do you mean by 'fooling myself"?”

"You told Claudia that you could help her save the old house, and then you encouraged her to ask Ben for money. You knew that their relationship would only get worse as long as you're here, and there's no way that Ben would give Claudia that much money!"

Kim hadn't been through what had happened today, but she had logical thinking. She could speculate most of it.

"That means you're using the auction and your loss to trap Claudia! You're playing the martyr to fraud Ben!"

She said as she looked at Ben. She smiled with mockery and irony, continuing, "As for Ben, how would he let his beloved ex lose one billion? He would reward you two or more billion for that! You knew he would do that, and that was why you dared give your company away so decisively. Am I right?"

Hanna fell in silence. She feared to argue with Kim because Kim was too eloquent.

Kim had the situation under her control. She looked so aggressive and was eager to stand up for Claudia.

She checked Hanna from head to toe. Hanna had a sophisticated aura, but she wasn't as beautiful as Claudia. The only thing Hanna had while Claudia didn't was that the ability to speak for herself. Kim felt a bit sorry for Claudia when thinking of that. She tried not to be emotional and continued, "Well played, Hanna. I'm so impressed."

Suddenly, Ben, who had been silent, asked with his cold voice, "Are you done?"

Kim looked at him and said, "I know you just can't wait to stand up for her. Shame on you!"

She wanted to say more, but she stopped when he realized Claudia was still in love with him. The silly girl had loved this man for over ten years and done everything for him without letting him know. Kim suddenly realized Claudia's love was blind. The man was handsome, but above that, there was nothing in him that deserved Claudia's deep love.

Kim felt this was so unfair. She thought Claudia deserved better.

"Forget it, I don't wanna talk to you anymore... it's meaningless! Ben, you'll regret this!"

Kim cast a disdainful look at Hanna. Then she snorted and left.

Ben didn't stop her. He watched her driving away, and then held Hanna in his strong arms. He whispered to her gently, "She misunderstood you. Just forget about this." Hanna raised her head and forced a smile. She replied, "It's fine. She was standing for Claudia. Why would I blame her?"

She mumbled it slowly and calmly, while for Ben, those words felt like a blunt knife rubbing against his heart.

Hanna was always so kind to him. She always put other people first and wasn't afraid of being misunderstood. Ben swore he would never let this 'silly' woman down.

Kim passed by a grocery store when she went back. She bought some food and fruit so that she could make an excuse about why she was out.

But no matter what she said, Claudia knew Kim must have gone to the Crawford Family and argued for her.

They have been each other's best friends for so many years, and she knew Kim would do that for her without hesitation.

Kim patted Claudia's shoulder and said softly, "Relax! Just live here. You don't have to pay me rent."

Claudia chuckled and patted Kim's hand to show appreciation.

"You don't need to thank me. I feel bad for you. You should leave him as soon as you can"

Claudia furrowed her brows, and then she signed, "No, we have Conrad. He's still with them..."

Thinking of her child, Claudia's eyelashes hung down. She didn't want Kim to see her sorrowful eyes.

Kim sat down beside her and said, "This won't last long... Ben won't divorce you for now. You'll see Conrad very soon. Don't worry."

Conrad hadn't reached 3 years old yet. If they had to get a divorce, the court would tend to give Claudia full custody.

Unless the Crawfords pulled some strings.

Claudia didn't think they would be that despicable, or that would make Ben much less of a man.

Kim could only curse Ben in her silently. Suddenly, the doorbell rang.

They thought it was the pizza delivery guy. However, when they opened the door, they saw Ben standing straight outside. Kim and Claudia were stunned.

"I'm here for Claudia. Can I borrow her for a minute?" Ben asked. His voice sounded clear and pleasing to the ear.

Kim paused for a few seconds. When she realized what he meant, she called Claudia over.

At the gate of the apartment, Ben lit a cigarette and leaned to his Rolls-Royce. His slender fingers caught the cigarette, his dark eyes staring at her through the smoke without a blink.

Claudia didn't know what he wanted to talk about. She felt so disappointed in Ben when recalling his ruthlessness. She lowered her eyelids to avoid eye contact.

It had been quite a while. After he finished one cigarette, he finally was about to say something. He moved his eyes away from Claudia and stared at the lawn. "Let's get a divorce."

Claudia's ears hurt when she heard the short sentence.

She raised her head in a panic and wanted to replace an answer in Ben's complicated expressions, but soon Ben told her the answer bluntly.

"It's not just about money, Claudia. We are married because of a testament. That is unfair to both of us. We should end it."

"Unfair."

Claudia found that world so ridiculous when Ben used it.

He was in no place to talk about fairness. He forced her into this marriage because of that testament, which was unfair to Claudia; then she risked her own life to get pregnant and give birth to his son while he did nothing, which was unfair, either.

There was no absolute right or wrong, fairness or unfairness in a relationship, because it was always about both parties.

Claudia looked at his eyes and couldn't believe what she just heard. She signed, "You're the one who initiated our marriage, and now you suddenly want to get a divorce. Why do I always have to do as you say?"

She is not a weak woman. She had been giving in to this man because she loved him too much.

If she was pushed to her limit or the other party crossed the line, her anger would break out and the consequences would be terrifying.

Ben threw away the cigarette in his hand and stomped it out. Then he walked forward and grabbed Claudia's arms. He slammed her onto the car and fixed her against the car again.

Ben stroked the hair on her forehead with his slender fingers, his eyes fixed on her comely face. A while later, he said, "Do you really think this relationship will go any further if we keep torturing each other like this?"0000000
